It way not the lines which they said , an illusion , and indicative of being Hospitable, human , friendly, and doing the job with the right attitude. Yes Air India had it’s own Maharaja an indication of being treated like one on it’s flight. The first Indian to owe a plane was Bhupender Singh the Maharaja of Patiala., maybe that was the reason Air India boosted of treating you like a Maharaja.

More Air companies came in and the business grew, but then if you see the east, west, north, south and center - every region has five airlines . India has Indian Airlines which is the mother of the Indian Aviation Industry, followed by Jet Airways, Spice Jet. Deccan Airways, and Kingfisher. I do not mention Sahara as it has been taken over by Jet Airways. These are airlines which fly into Metro’s and are well connected. We call them the passenger Airlines.

Some more Airways have come in Go Air, Air One, Jagson Airways, Paramount, Indus Airways.

Coming to the Airlines Industry in India, the private airlines came offering drinks on their flights, and boosted of different meals for different taste of people. You could order your choice of meals, a diabetic meal, low calories meal, English meals, Indian Meals and Jain Meals. Things changed as they got business.

The best part of this business today is that - Indian Airlines still is in saris, have got younger Air Hostress, The Jet Airways goes for correct height and optimal body weight in western business uniforms covering all parts of body, Kingfisher has girls in coat and skirts reaching the knee. Spice jet has shorter skirts and Air Deccan has longer skirts with slit at the back and a scarf. Two of them are on Red, One on Blue, one on Yellow and Blue and one on Orange, blue, green saris. Will miss Sahara as they had their women in Saris too.

Food is the best thing the airlines can offer. Food cost money and if you want to fly cheap in Air Deccan you have to buy food, in Spice they give you cookies and water and no news paper, in Indian Airlines you get food from Taj SAT , in Jet you get it from Oberoi’s and Sahara gave you from Skychef. But then they keep on interchanging the caterers. In Kingfisher also you get food from one of these caterers.

Tey all offer you sweets in style, Kingfisher gives you a plastic bag as your kit, with ear plugs to hear music, some tea bags in the kit and some sweets, Air Sahara which is no longer gave you a cardboard box with sweets take them home if you please and they also gave you Indian drinks like Panna and Lime water, Jet Airways gives you the imli sweets which have become famous that’s one thing Indian about this Airlines. Indian Airlines gives you a tray with cotton buds, and sweets. Air Deccan and Spice offers you sweets when you get in.

Water - Himalaya is Jet Airwasy Brand, Natural Spring is Spice Brand, Indian Airlines gives you Biselery and Barlies, and then you always have water from the cans.

Well this is what the Indian Airlines Industry gives you - Everyone gives you discounts. And you get what you pay for. Some have skin color stockings and some have black and some have no stocking.

Yeti

Magic Five - How I look at my profession (Media)

While reading a book Count your chicken before they are hatched, by Arvindam Chaudhari the management guru I was tempted to cook a chicken, so I went cooking and discovered the greatest truth of life which I was unaware of . That is the formula of five. While cooking a chicken I roasted some onions, put some garlic and ginger and some mirch and Dhania. Then I put some Cumin, pepper, haldi, dhaniya and Mirch to the chicken and hence came the idea that every thing is five. This is the Indian Style of Cooking.
The Italian cookbook talks of spices needed in cooking Italian Food which consist of Fennel, Crushed Red Pepper, Italian seasoning , Oregano and garlic salt.
For Chinese I came across something know as the five spice powder which is a blend of Szechwan pepper, star Anise, cinnamon, fennel seeds and cloves. Baking talked about All spices, Cardamom, Cloves, Nutmeg and Poppy seeds. …

.
So Wondered all night till I work in the morning and used my soap, comb, deodorant, shaving kit and brushing kit… and it was confirmed … when I thought of the place I belonged to that’s the Movie World.
I could count my chickens before they are hatched ……
Lights …. Roll Sound….Roll Camera ….Action ….. Cut……. This is what we do on a floor ….
CUT that’s what we say when the shot is over, it’s a common method to connect images - A cut appears as an instantaneous transference from one shot to another , In a completed film, a cut is type of editing, A “cut” of a movie is also a complete edited version. , To cut means to eliminate footage or scenes from the final film. And ‘Cut!’ is the director’s signal for stopping the camera during a take. A word like cut too has five meaning in Filming now that’s being too clever.

Television Productions are run on a different track, they too have a lingo, I would call it the lingo of the small world The first usage of lingo comes in when you take the color bar and tones which is St By on set, St By to roll tape, Roll tape, Ready to take bar and codes, take bar and codes. They shoot on tape. This is done before you start shooting. While on the shoot your lingo changes you say St by Camera 1, st. by to announce tape, take one, ready slate, standby black. While this is done the next stage comes is when you say Go to black, ready Camera 2 with Cu – up, Take 2 mike, St. by on Guest, take one. Commercial break ….. Infact one should be grateful to television and the video technology , everyone has become a film maker. More film maker mean more sale of this book I guess, but then I don’t like selling someone’s thoughts. The world has become so close that a lot of information filters through your brain and its impossible to keep a track of any Quotes. Only the greats till the 80’s can be remembered.

I guess and it makes me sure The magic five, that’s what entertainment industry is all about What is number 5 well as someone said it’s the completion of the four concepts which precedes it and that’s why completion of a project is a must, if you don’t complete the project you loose money. And why not, after all it deals with the five human emotions, the five Aesthetic, the five senses, the five duties after all a human is made of five materials and when he dies he is converted into five substances. He lives with five all his life. But for me concept of five is a thought process which makes me wonder and completes my circle. It makes me feel that my knowledge is in the right track. How do I filter number 5 , well give away the obsolete and add in new. Like for example in the communication world the AM band is already filtered when I speak of Radio and pay channels are also filtered in Television as I believe that why should I pay for invasion of privacy, In telephones MTNL has been filtered and cell are in, in internet well I have put a filter to filter unwanted pop up’s, in computers I don’t work with a obsolete platform. Can you think of filtering your relationships some one asked me well relationships have become superficial they get filtered all the time.

If you go into a nuclear family it too has five elements. A father, a mother, A Child, A House and Money. And if you go into a joint family you have you have a grandfather, a grandmother, children, then children and the house. Money does not count in a Joint family. See even families are going through the filtrations plant, as you grow old you go through a flirtation plant, now what you drink is all filtered water, in some countries people wear filters to filter air, at last the news we hear have to be read between the lines it need a certain filter.

WHAT IS A FILM

What is a film – It’s an attempt to restructure sound and images as a new narrative frames in a virtual story space linked with time. By telling a story we create an esthetical space, in which the viewer is invited. While doing this we play with several levels of expressions, these being the language, time, gestures , movements and images . These are linked with a common factor an inner structure with deals with space. The flow are the turning points, flashbacks, climax, The story telling flows in altered by turning points, set aside movements , climax , flashbacks, etc. The purpose of which is to increase suspense in a logical and visible way. Story is written with a view of giving a solution to a conflict , which is realized in the show down of a happy ending or a catastrophe. Construction depends on the succession of scenes , action and chain of abstracts which show the central moment of incidents, called the essence, which compresses the main aspect of action, emotions , speed . The fictional space in a story consists of locations, rooms , sets, in which the drama unfolds. The drama unfolds and the director and the scriptwriter filters information. If every film was made with the same contents would you see it. The answer is a big NO. So I think somewhere down the line films don’t earn money because we use the same formula. Long time ago I read a book called Ocean of stories. Some where I read that the Ocean of Stories were originally an Old Gujarati series of tales, which were later translated into Sanskrit and stolen by the Brahmins, so the truth is everything is stolen. I wonder is storytelling about revamping the old into new, new faces old thoughts.

Then how do we represent space in a story? Space when we speak of we picture outer space, inner space, city space, open space, public space, personal space, but then that’s what a story teller does.
WHAT YOU MAKE
What is moving images all about ? A documentary, a feature film, A Ad film, a television show or a news based program. Again if you subdivide them you can make five sorts of programs.
To Film again!!! A Film can be a drama, an epic, a comedy, or an action or a Sci – fiction. There is other genre with are equally important like the western, musical, horror, war, suspense but then they are of the same breed. You may have a film a romantic film, a melodrama, a fantasy, a supernatural or a sexual erotic.
In television you may have a sitcom, soap opera, Action, Horror, Drama in one hand games shows, talk shows, sports, musical shows, kid shows on the other.
On a news channel you may have news, Headlines, interviews, stock market, weather, breaking news.

But then what a story consists of is a structure and that structure becomes our stories, a combination of environment I guess.

FINDING STRUCTURE

Film has an environment it could be a mixed or a single environment. While looking at the environment look and see what it means to you , How do you picture the environment. Is it a geographical environment, Ecological environment , Social environment, Historical environment, Symbolic environment.

Environment needs to give us rights to preservation of life , health and a place to live in which we call a house, but then with it we have certain problems linked and worry us – thinning of ozone layer and air pollution, Problems concerning freshwater and ocean water, land degradation and erosion, epidemics and disease, hazardous waste.

When we think of cultural problems we think of preserving it, controlling it, and we live in uncertainty and think of Crisis of Civilization, crisis of learning and ideas, lack of moral obligations and human responsibilities, westernization, Media, IT controls.

In Politics when we talk of representation we hear words and get associated with spread of conflicts, crime / terrorism and its counter, Social freedom from discrimination , abuse of law and justice, neo liberalism/ neo fascism.

Social freedom from discrimination is based on age, gender, race, ethnicity or social status. Strong communities depend on Population growth, migration, refugee flows, hyper-urbanization , decline of communities and civil society. Economy depends on access to employment and resources needed to maintain one’s existence , reduce scarcity, improved quality of life.

The problems which we face are related to expanding poverty, crises in economic growth, debt crisis, employment both un and under, global competition. . Our world faces problems of weapons of mass destruction, family in transition, violence at home, illiteracy, and excessive consumerism.

Story teller is expressing a view. When a story teller wants to express a view or a question , usually the mind things again. Should it be a simple view , the biological view, the brain based view, the psychological view, or perhaps a denial view.

Film making is not a tool to punish the audience but it’s a tool which should make the audience come back to the cinema halls and maybe help them to understand life better. Films media can be used in many a ways , it can teach you to grow and also act like a weapons of mass destruction.

Between a television viewing and a film viewing the difference is that in television we navigate space and try to find space looking at images which are not connected, while in films we have to watch images on a screen space and that’s one of the reason film should be flawless.
WHY YOU MAKE A MOVING IMAGE
Because you have been given a particular talent, faith, opportunity, position and brains.
Once upon a time in world, they talked about duties. Duty towards God, Ancestors, Nation, Animal Kingdom and Society. But then modern society has fallen in time.
As Marty Glass says. We have had five falls. These five falls—the fall into Time, the Reign of Quantity, and the Mutation to Machinery, the End of Nature, and the Prison of Unreality—taken together comprise the fate of historical humanity. Marty Glass puts in:
Cosmic time, the creation of world and it’s demystifying, planetary time are displaced. This is the most profound revolution humanity has ever undergone, and it will never be reversed.
The second fall is the Reign of Quantity. . In its integral, uncompromised state, Reality is an ecstasy of qualities, but the unfolding of history is marked by the progressive displacement of qualities by quantities.
Third fall the Mutation into Machinery. Knowledge today is not taken to be truly such unless it is ‘effective’, which is to say, instrumental in achieving a specified pragmatic aim.
The fourth fall is the End of Nature. We long for the vanished world untouched by human hands,
Finally, there is the Prison of Unreality that the four above listed falls have walled us into. The Media Technology. The Entertainment, The Internet relationships, the unbounded families, misuse of power coruption Here our identities are invaded. We become what we sell ourselves into being. But then we have to sell relationships.
IMAGERY IN A FILM
Things seen on screen are Images. They should have a value. It’s your job to ensure that everything looks the way the director is visualizing. You don’t need a lot of money to achieve high quality imagery but you need the right mind. Images are created with light, so it’s possible to use light and mock-ups to create convincing background images that only look expensive... You don’t need to spend everything on screen values, but spend as much money as you can spare on your screen values and forgo frivolous expenses. – including

The imagery of a film depends on CONSTRUCTION, LOCATION, PROPERTIES, DRESSING WARDROBE, MAKEUP/ACTOR,
WHAT A VISUAL MEDIA SHOULD CONTAIN
Any Visual media contains or rather should contain the five human emotions that being love, anguish, Awe, Triumph and joy. It takes care of five senses that are sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing. Should have the five Aesthetic – the form, appreciation, evaluation, create and it has to have a relationship between art to culture and social values. Any visual media must have a composition which is Dominance/Subordination, Balance, Harmony/ Contrast, proportions, and tone/ color.

Personal space is for emotional changing zones, which a visual media contain. The study of personal space for the purpose of communication uses four and now five categories for informal space: the intimate distance for embracing or whispering (6-18 inches), the personal distance for conversations among good friends (1.5-4 feet), social distance for conversations among acquaintances (4-12 feet), and public distance used for public speaking (12 feet or more). The world has changed and now we have a new space which I is call the inter-action space or cyber space. It has no boundaries. This new space has been generated by technological development like cell phones, internet and has led to a physiological response of anxiety, withdrawal, decreased task performance, perceived discomfort and difference between fixed and semi fixed space. Cell phones have removed the required distance, and through the internet we are making conversation with people who are not present rather to have face to face conversation. Internet has given rise to a new era of cyber sex, cyber money, cyber food, cyber body and cyber trash has made man free from all material problems. Now he is free from pain, sex, hunger, work and society. If only I would have subscribed to million of emails I would by not have been a multimillionaire, a sex freak, a mortgage expert, an entrepreneur, and would be on sex medication. The future looks bright and would sound something like this.

Hey Cyber marriage , what fun …. Let me meet a cyber gal who will do all my cyber housework. She can get me some Cyber money which we can spend in abandon. Then we can go to our beds and can have cyber sex. All worldly problems solved. After all it’s a cyber relationship.

RELEASEING A FILM OR TV PROGRAM
The first question which one should ask is about the final product. Once you know what going to be the end result maybe it could give you a better insight in what you are doing. The end achievement therefore is the -RELEASE. What you need for a good film release - You need the right publicity, the right distribution distributor, the right and the wrong audience, the right theater and a technically good print.
If you are into television you need a production house, a tape, a channel, a satellite and a television set to view.
If you are into newspaper you need, right publicity, right creative, the right distribution, the right manufacturing, and the right marketing.
If you are into News what you need the right communication network, the right presenter, the right cameraman, the right story and the right techniques?
If you make a documentary you need the right research or what we call grounding the story, the right concept, the right narration, dedicated team, and freedom of equipment usage.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BECOME
What you need to become is a technical communicator. You should always try to write or visualize the script, so that the budgets can be kept low. See the screen in your mind while you read. Technical communicators must practice the skill of keeping a script within time constraints. The dialogue and narration must be compressed to fit the time frame of the action. As a film script writer try to tell a creative story with the style and impact. How you tell a story depends on time and money and the resources available for production. Budget constraints must be dealt with, and you can’t let budget constraints retard your creativity.
So what you need to do (1) You should be able to analyze your information - throw away useless information ( no information is useless hence sideline it) , (2) Your research should be good so treat your project like a child, (3) Organize yourself and put the information in a logical sequence, think of your audience, (4) how could you give them what they want, a good writing skill and a command over the language is important & think visuals, (5) learn to present your ideas as a team, teamwork is important.
TECHNIQUE FOR DOCUMENTARY
The technique which one uses for documentary is (1) A person delivering a straight presentation, (2) Voice Narration with visual tours and animations (3) Demonstrations (4) Candid Interviews (5) Staged interviews.
WACHING A VISUAL BASED PROGRAM
You can watch a film on a VHS, a DV, a VCD, a theater, or a LCD.
FILM PACKAGING
A Film today is packaged through a sixth sense which everyone has developed, without understanding the media. Left alone the seriousness of the titles too is not understood. We live in a confused world.
It’s no more a film, it’s no more a heart, it’s no more television, it’s just packaging. Yes Film making and TV series are just like a pack shot. You get the right packet of stars and then ask then what they would like to do, go to a sponsor, get the money for in-build publicity and you are in business. Film making was an ART, TV started as an ART but then meritocracy took over this industry.
Today you don’t make movies from your heart. You manage and make movies. Audience is a fool!!! Ethics have gone away!!!! You don’t do what you want to do!!! You don’t care if the mafia dictates terms!!!! You teach violence you live violence and that’s what is happening. You dream a divorce you get one!!! What you shall see so shall you reap. Dreams and action come back to you. The next few pages deal with the technical needs and also give you insight into budgeting. Film deals with a variety of issues which should be addressed we forget many a things when we budget and hence the lingo is important. If you know the lingo you can do Scheduling, Budgeting and Scripting.

BEFORE COSTS

One have to understand what production is all about. On a large platform a good producer or a technical communicator should have a spark of creativity, should be emotionally involved with the project away from distractions, he should know the language, he should be able to make a musical and visual interpretation of the script. On floor he should be persistence, have numeric abilities, physical abilities, social abilities and manual ability. Above all this he should know the concept of time management. Time Management is very and is of great help. We start with time and that’s timing the script, then we go and do scheduling there also time matters, the release is fixed the time matters, the film is edited the time matters, shoot days also are in bounded time.

INDIRECT COSTS

These are the costs which pinch every production but then it’s a must. One wants to take a shot cut and save costs, but then at the end of the day is it worth saving. In my entire 25 years I have had three people going down on the set. At two occasion it was the fault of the persons negligence. When you work or are doing a budget always keep in mind the Indirect cost which could be as under, depending on the project.
There are five indirect costs related to the film Legal, Distribution, finance, publicity, insurances.
LEGAL AGREEMENTS
Legal contracts or agreements are broadly based as financial agreements, distribution agreements, cast & Crew agreements, Intellectuals right agreements, Hire agreements.
DISTRIBUTION
Your major rights being International/ Local Theatrical release, Television rights analog or digital free to air, Pay TV, DVD/Video rights, non theatrical right, and internet broadband rights,

LOAN APPLICATION (finance)
When you apply for a loan what they ask you, you’re personal details, your bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of residence and a photograph. The financial requirement for funding a film being, Promoters contribution, Repayment schedule, Security, Insurance and completion bond. While the creative requirement being, Script, Production Company details, crew details, actor’s details and schedule. The creative needs for a film financing proposal are Producers credentials, Details of proposed films, creative/ Literary Information, Technical Information, Production/Execution Arrangements. With this you are needed to give a Budget, Means of finance, Cash flows, Schedule and Any other information you would like to give
COMPLETION BOND (finance)
Completion Bond Guarantor’s role is to provide an assurance that the film will be completed, delivered to the distributor. Protect the financier from over-budget costs, misapplication of the production financing, and look into various other problems that may arise throughout the principal photography and the post-production of a film
INSURANCE
The insurance coverage for film and television includes, producers package, property & liability coverage, workers compensation, producers error and omission and special coverage.
PUBLICITY
For a film we need to do publicity in Press, Television, Radio, Outdoor publicity and provide for Distributor quota.
PLANING A FILM
Life is a big plan, hence is any business, but then when you are a communicator you have to plan more. What is your goal what is your audience, what is your location, what is your script, what is the political overview ( Political overview means that do you need sanction from a third person, like a client etc)
Good visual does not happen by accident, it’s planning which counts. Every departments need to plan and hence they need computer skills or paper skills, shooting script, story board, shooting schedule and last but not the least a checklist. A Professional production does not need excuses like, it’s someone else’s problem, don’t worry, we are the best, I am wasting my time doing it again and again, I know it all. Every production is a new experience.
SCHEDULING
While you schedule a film you have to take care of five things. That is the Location, Int. /Ext, Day/Night, Set, Scenes, we schedule them so that we can get a shoot day. A SHOOT DAY - What is a shooting day like? Creativity and food go very well. So what does the Crew do! The crew come to the location, has tea, shoots and sweats, has lunch and it’s a wrap . Lunch consists of Dal, Sabzi, Roti/Chawal, meat dish and a Raita or one hand. Accompanying it are nimbu, mirch, salad, acchar and a sweet-dish.

WHILE SHOOTING
You need to have Progress reports, Editors log, Continuity log, Contact list and call sheets handy.
CONTAINS
A visual media contains –a script, a cast, direction, development, and production DISCOURSE & INTERCOURSE
The film tells a story, all of know that. But then it has another aspect that is framing of image which sets the film apart from other media. In moving images what you do!!! You tell a story with a moving picture technique which is Unique. These images are produced by the effect of lights.
Another way to appreciate the art of film is to focus especially on its primary element—the visual. Film is composed of three images - Image, Sound, and Text. The canvas of the visual poetry is called a frame. The frame’s can be cut, joint together, it can go fast, go slow that’s the liberty one takes in presenting moving images. The process known as editing. There are aspects of composition that deal with the content of the frame and aspects that deal with movement of the frame. The content of the frame is made up of the arrangement and movement of elements within the frame. Camera elements that deal with content include angle shots (high, eye-level, low), depth of focus, distance of shots (close-up, medium, long) and lighting. Other content elements include set design, locations, make-up, costumes and the actors themselves. Technical aspects dealing with content include special effects etc. The movement of the frame comes from the camera which are then edited and put together in post production.
HOW YOU CREATE VISUAL.
Well you create a visual media with you mind, your hands, your emotions, money, and proposal.
SCRIPT
While you think scripting think of the five important elements. These are the character, Action, Dialogue, Transition, and emotions or Parenthetical.
THINKING LIKE A CHILD
If you can’t think like a child you cannot be a writer. If you have to be a writer you have to think like a child. Your writing thus will be memorable piece of writing. Here are five characteristics of children’s thinking that writers can put to good use
The Flow
While children play, they create scenarios for their action figures. A Child just keeps going incorporating new idea. This “stream of consciousness” kind of thinking may be familiar to writers as a way to generate ideas. Getting into the habit of thinking this way, without self-editing or moralizing, makes it easier to slip away from the constraints of reality.
Use Details
Children tend to notice things that many adults walk right past. The spider web in the corner, the color of the ball, tiny details. A small image can make an interesting image and can spark an entire story itself. It could have an effect on adding realism and hence draw people to your writing.
Being Multi sensory
A Child his head when someone calls. They sniff everything. Maybe play with the mud will rub the mud all over them. As Adults we take our senses for granted. As a writer this is exactly what you have to think about. To be effective, our imaginary worlds need to include sounds, tastes, smells, and textures, as well as sights
Creative Connections
What we have to do is to produce universal emotions and ideas in different ways. One of the challenges for producing interesting writing is to express universal emotions and ideas in new and different ways. What we try to do is limit ourselves. But then we don’t make connections. Well always try to make connections, connections between things with similar shapes, similar motions, and similar textures. Being receptive to thinking teaches your mind to think in more creative way.
Emotions
Never try to hide an emotion, like a child react to event in observable way. If you do something a child doesn’t like, you know about it instantly. Children react to events in observable ways. The key is to create emotional reactions to events as well as thought-based ones.
Creating a story
What you do when you create a story, you think, you construct, images move into your head, you dream and you are inspired.
When you think of a story a thought process starts in your mind. Well your mind things a number of things, but then this has a greater meaning for you this thought is something near to you, so what you need to do is focus. The story in your mind needs a focus.
When we write we play with words and actions, we try to create what our inner self wants and hence using words is the power you have to concentrate on.
Our brain is full of images, what is happening in our mind. Sometimes an imagery idea comes and what you wan to do put it on paper. But at times when you write you have to be your own visualize and hence you have to feed your brain with visuals when you write and with images before you write.
You need to be inspired, you need to feel, you need to love, have, and experience, meet people, see what they do... observe and this will inspire you to write.
Yes in other words you have to be a dreamer – you have to go beyond real imagination. So dream and write your story, check with your long memory list, what was the best thing which happened, what was the worst, what love you got what you did not, use your five senses. Story writing is showing not telling. The best ever told stories I ever came across were in The Brihat Katha , Katha Sarit Sagar, The Panchatantra, The Arabian Nights and Sindbad, and the Parrot Tales, the philosophy is in the veda’s, the epics, purans, Upanishads and Brahmasutra’s. You have various sutra or shastra’s economy = arth, dance =natya, property=vastu, sex = kama, astrology= prashna, which also directly effect human.

It has emotions, dialogues, action, location and it could be INT/EXT. . . .
WRITER’S RULES
Writers of the 40’s got their dreams from the heart, writers of the 50’s got their dreams from a better world, writers of the 60’s got their dreams from growth, writer of the 70’s got it from love, writers of the 80’s got it from drugs, writers of the 90’s got it from coping and reading, writers of the 2000 got it from Internet, copying, and by the success of the others. They want to remake and remake and don’t want to investigate. They and even the viewers are afraid of reality. So create a false world.
So, if you want to be a writer, what will you write or copy, what will be the originality in it, who will buy it, what future has for you? How will you safeguard yourself from the copycats? If you write it has to be seen and published. I have the right to know what you are thinking about for I can copy what you write. A writer faces common challenges, so look into these rules.
1 While you write, and if someone does not like it you Sulk, So don’t sulk, face the world with confidence, if you get rejected it’s not the end of the world, it’s just the beginning, analyze you writings. Read and think why it was rejected. Show it to your friends and take advice. Maybe even your dreams is a copy of someone else dreams. .
2 If you are rejected accept it gracefully. Learn from it.
3 In this world everyone copies an idea or an image or a visual, so keep track of what you have sent to whom. Who knows about the idea? Sent emails to your best friends with your idea. Maybe get it registered with an association. When you sent your idea keep a log of it. Sent idea by Registered AD post,
4 You should write what you believe in. Research, Listen, interview, see impressions, and keep them in your memory, to write you need a memory bank.
5 If you cannot write don’t get frustrated, you will never find the right end or the right beginning, you will never find the right climax. So go relax, see a movie, go through your imagination bank, have a cup of tea, go visit friends, and stop thinking for a while. And then write, who knows you will be the writer I hire one day.
You want to tell a story. The format of story differs in all the five formats of film making. If you are doing a feature film you need to tell a story, if you are doing an ad film your pack shot is the story, if you do a news report your W’s are the story , if you do a talk show your brain takes out a story, if you are doing a TV Series (Drama) your sponsors tell you the story, if you do a game show the research is the story , if you do a documentary the story is told by the research and footage.

Writing Documentary scripts is a challenge. It gives you a certain amount of creative compensation. Here the narrator reads a script, some are exciting and fresh and most of them are boring. But then the elements of drama still apply being the theme, plot, dialogue, character and music.

The theme being your subject, which could be historical, wild animals, location, a person, or a research. In documentaries your plot is the interest you create in the viewer, the dialogues being what the information you want to give the viewers for example the dates, names, events, conversation, and then comes your music.

You must have a great attitude, creative innovation and an idea for the stuff you want to produce. For writing a documentary your creativity depends on research, imagination, intuition which gives you a strong structure. You are creating a story from the facts of reality.

Through documentary filmmaking many a powerful stories have originated, many a traditions have been preserved, human daily struggle has been shown, political history as animal kingdom has been preserved.

Motion Picture writing depends on the development of character, setting of a plot, and creating a conflict so that a story can progress, it may have a climax and imagination. Documentaries depend heavily on narrations and interview to progress in the story line, re-enactment’s don’t happen due to lack of budget. No one can teach you film making, it’s a personalized statement, and you have to learn on your own. This profession needs blood, sweat and tears. Just write and think, and with experience you shall improve.
Schools don’t teach you filmmaking you have to learn on your own. The key need is the right research and the right way to analyze the content you write and how well you understand it.
Making a documentary is a growing process. They cannot be pre-structured. Documentaries at proposal stage can only be given a treatment.

Here aim is the most important principle, what are you aiming at, and how will you begun your story. But then you need to have a guideline, and at the end of it the guideline would change from the original guideline. Once you shoot it, then you would be writing the actual script which will depend on the editing Patten. Documentaries have more credibility than making a feature film or a TV Series, a respectable media which is the friendliest to IMAX.

NEWS REPORT

Shooting news report needs a headline which should be exciting, and then a subheading which expands the headline. The lead sentence should contain the W’s – who where what when …… If you can get a direct quote the report can be interesting, and at last the name of the journalist is a must.

If you are writing for Broadcast always remember the TV or Radio
Restrictions as your visuals have to say things in a few seconds. The style should be informative but then don’t throw figures at audience, it should be conversational, or informal, short lines can act like a teaser. Your sentences should contain only one idea, and it should be brief. While a news is being read you are dealing with a variation in audience who may not understand flowery language. You have to develop a relationship between yourself and the audience. Your words should be such that the audience can understand it. Your thoughts should be clear.

The scripts for broadcast work on the principal of two column. On one side you have the video command which explains the shot and on the other the narration or audio which is being presented.

While structuring a broadcast news consider the background, the focus, action, unfold the story. In other words it should have a dramatic unity, a climax, a cause, and an effect on the viewer, the right sort of packaging.

THINK OF THE SONG
ONE DAY AT A TIME, SWEET JESUS
I’m only human, I’m just a woman.
Help me believe in what I could be
And all that I am.
Show me the stairway, I have to climb.
Lord for my sake, teach me to take
One day at a time.

Chorus:
One day at a time sweet Jesus
That’s all I’m asking from you.
Just give me the strength
To do everyday what I have to do.
Yesterday’s gone sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine.
Lord help me today, show me the way
One day at a time.

Do you remember when you walked among men?
Well Jesus you know if you’re looking below
It’s worse now, than then.
Cheating and stealing, violence and crime
So for my sake, teach me to take
One day at a time.

Mise-en-scene - Literally translated as “what’s put into the scene”,
This is the sum total of all factors affecting the artistic “look” or “feel” of a shot or scene. These can include shot selection, shot composition, production design and set decoration, as well as technical camera properties such as shutter speed, aperture, frame rate, and depth of field. Mise-en-scene is often contrasted with montage, where the artistic “look” of a scene is constructed through visual editing.
Script has various shapes – like Screenplay, Shooting script, Lined script, continuity script, and speculation script. When you write one you may go through various drafts till it known as a production script, thereafter any changes you make you have to change to color of the paper of the changed scenes.
You want me to write what you believe in. Sorry that’s not the way I was made. I need to write to take out my frustration; I want to teach the way I want to. I have no rules, I am not educated as much as you are but then at the end of the day I have more experience and have observed more than you. So I have a write to express my thought. Some one taught me and now I teach you. I teach you with all honesty but will you take my teachings with a pinch of salt or are you going to apply it. If you don’t apply I will not be sorry for it but then when you learn please come back and teach me, for maybe my teachings are not logical , maybe it’s not for this world, maybe you are smarter than me, maybe you got a better guru. But then anyway you taught me something I shall always value and cherish. I must pray to lord and ask him to give me your knowledge.
DISCOURSE & INTERCOURSE
WHAT PEOPLE DO?
Ask me and I don’t even know what people do. But then I believe in them and see what they should do. I am not the last word. I am still learning, I am still a kid, so teach me your way and I will accept the way , but then if I am unsuccessful I shall use my mind and then you follow my way.
Between the things which you see on the screen and from the development stage any moving images goes through the following steps.
Development, Scripting, Production, Direction, Designing. Near the camera you see Camera, Sound, Technicians, Equipment, and Lab. In front of the camera you see Acting, Sets, Effects, Post and Makeup/Hair. This is all film making is all about.
It’s important to know what people do in visual media, so that the work is not overlapped and well you know what the other person is suppose to do. In a corporate world we have managers but then they don’t know what to do. No one teaches you and hence you are confused. So what happens you develop your own confused system, without help from you subordinates – sometime it works and sometime you are fired? At the end of the day all job is your job if you are loyal to the company. Your Growth depends on your knowledge and confidence. Here we go:
FILMS VS TV
Coming to television, the Credits have changed. This is as TV funding is mostly done by Television Companies or the program is produced by a Production Company. You must know Movie and Television production is not the same. You won’t find a lot of film Credits on Television credits. When you see the same credit on a TV Show and on a film don’t assume they indicate the same job. In Television you have three type of people on a program. Production People, Technical People and In Vision People. In a TV Studio based program crucial crew like , Vision Mixer, Lighting Director, sound mixer, online editor would be sitting with the director in the control room. They would have transmission equipment so they can speak between themselves and the camera operators. In TV remember, logistics change in a Studio Production, gets lesser in a location shoot, and crew need change. Even your technical requirements are not the same. Sound, acoustics, lighting, and backgrounds can all be optimized for the TV Production.

PRODUCER
Producer can be an investor, a proposal maker, a proxy producer, a paid producer, or an associate. You can have a producer, an executive producer, co-producer, an associate producer and a line producer.
The producers are worried about five things. Which are the COSTS, DISTRIBUTION, FINANCING, PUBLICITY, and INSURANCE, where as a line producer is worried about the actual production of the film that is Budgeting, controlling flow of money, on set supervision, coordination between the completion bond and production and scheduling. His aim is to make things work. Executive Producer is like a CEO, he represents the finances sigh checks, looks into the business, the legal aspects, and connects distribution and sign contracts. He does not have a creative control. Associate Producer is a person with certain name power but cannot organize the finances. Co-Producer is an investor. Executive Producer job is to write checks. And is usually the person who finds money
TV PRODUCER
A TV producer is more like a team leader. A TV Show, Producer or an executive producer is responsible for everything. They hire staff; look into the contents and looks of the show. The TV Executive Producer has to oversee the daily operations of TV production for internal and external programming. This includes managing all part-time and full-time workers. Managing Budgets and Resources. The As part of being a TV Executive Producer he should be well versed with producing, directing, acting, lighting, taping, and editing . Actually, in the case of a magazine program, the executive producer is usually referred to as the editor. Or even executive editor. The duties of the producer and director are, in theory, separate and complimentary; the producer decides what goes into the program, the director is responsible for how it looks and sounds. That’s the theory - in practice the situation is a little more mobile. For a start, the producer has selected the director; if he now decides he wants things different, he’s free to say so. And if the director disagrees strongly, he’s free to walk out. There may be an associate producer who looks after scheduling, manages the budget day-to-day, and generally assists. They are sometimes called a Associate Executive Producer, production manager, and various other things, some the credits cheat, and you can have a technical executive producer, or a creative executive producer, or a TV Executive Producer. He may sometimes write a script himself.
SCREEN NEEDS
A film will have principal actors, supporting actors, extras, stunts and a choreographer.
Principal actors, the main performer of a film. Supporting actors, a minor acting role in which an actor may only speak a few lines, extras, supply the details in form of a normal human traffic. Stunts are actors who perform difficult parts, a choreographer is a person who does the song and dance sequences and directs the dance troupe,
DIRECTOR
Speakers like me have some common faults like Finger tapping, Adjusting cloths, and hairs. Lip biting or licking, head wagging. They are symptoms of simple nervousness. Which are acts preformed unconsciously. So the best way is to videotape yourself and look for five basic elements, being Posture, Gesture, Body movement. Facial expression and eye contact. That is what we all do! And it’s the director who takes these anxiety and fear out of us.
The director is worried about the five elements too which are SCREENPLAY, ACTORS, BACKGROUND ACTION, CAMERA, and SOUND.
The principal creative artist on a movie set. A director is usually (but not always) the driving artistic source behind the filming process, and communicates to actors the way that he/she would like a particular scene play. A director’s duties include casting, script editing, shot selection, shot composition, and editing. Typically, a director has complete artistic control over all aspects of the movie, but it is not uncommon for the director to be bound by agreements with either a producer or a studio. In some large productions, a director will delegate less important scenes to a second unit. The director is responsible to control every aspect on the screen that is seen, heard, transmitted visual elements, he can do it deliberately or haphazardly it his choice.
Layering great dialogue; great music and sound effects; perfect performances; a solid foundation of visuals.
When developing a story, remember that the star of the show isn’t the plot, it’s the characters. The plot only provides the stage for the characters to reveal themselves, their limitations and their growth throughout the course of the story a clever plot provides the characters with these usually unexpected opportunities to go beyond their established capabilities in a way that keeps the audience thinking.
Rule of thumb is: weigh the statement against its absolute necessity to the story. If the story won’t stand on its own without that particular statement, DO NOT delegate it to dialogue. If the statement is not critical to understanding the story, it may be made in dialogue alone as a layered element.
Maintaining the enthusiasm and willing efforts of your cast and crew is totally dependent upon maintaining your leadership skills. Everyone can smell a person who has never had to lead others.
Always remember, you are finishing a movie, rather than just making one. Any fool can start a movie with no end in sight, but it takes a dedicated individual with a solid plan to finish a good film.
TV DIRECTOR
In television, it applies to someone who is working in the studio. It could be an Online or an off line director. The online director is someone who this term usually applies to someone working on a live or studio-based show. The person is less of a creator and more of a balancer, sitting in the control room and picking up images, when working on a multi camera setup. TV Programs are based mostly on multiple camera setup, could be two, three, eight, ten, etc. Here the director decides whether at a particular moment the audience would watch the image from which angle, the director creation depends on moving from one camera to another to ensure the live action is caught accurately. Director is highly creative for he works instantly creating images. Television has a lot of high tech machines and hence assisting a director is a technical director in the console room. He operates a switcher board. The technical director, also coordinating the technical aspects of the production.

DOCUMENTARY DIRECTOR
Documentary director is more of a hunter. He looks for images try to capture it, rethinks, shoots again and again till he can get the right cloud, or the right smile. Maybe he shoots with you for 10 hrs just for a catch line. He is more of a eccentric as his work is his passion.
ACTOR
In visual media what you seeing is believing, characters lie. Character development isn’t done through dialogue; it’s done by showing their actions. Narration is always a last resort when you have no other choice; done tactfully it can work.
Actor is the performer and performers are always insecure. From an Actor you have to extract the best performance, hence you have to build a certain amount of trust in them. Your focus should be to get the performance out, don’t make them defensive, your goal is to make the film work so do that and not at the failed attempts. One has to be encouraging with them and create an atmosphere of success. Remember people try to react they way you treat them. Your remarks should have authority, not pampered but conscious. How you treat a person he reacts accordingly that’s the rule of the thumb.
Actor needs to look into five things – Dialogue, Action, Wardrobe/Makeup, Emotions, and Space. His areas being a center stage, a downstage, stage left, stage right and upstage. While acting he must look into sounds, smells, tastes, sight and texture.
TV Actors – Presenters – Reporters – Anchors.
This is the talent on a TV Program. They are the actors, presenters, reporters, Anchors, Announcer etc. Television uses three sort of talents – Actor - (who portray other people in dramatic productions), performers (who appear on camera in non-dramatic roles), and announcers (who typically don’t appear on camera).
In news the anchor may write his own lines, while in a talk show he may have to have presence of mind. While doing a comedy show they may need to be witty and fast. TV production depends on how many minutes you can, can in a day and not on the artistic merits. It depends on how well an actor can remember his lines as there is little room for retakes. T.V. Productions are based on a master shot and close ups, the master shot is usually a mid shot.

DOCUMENTARY ACTORS

They are more of ordinary people then professionals.
The crew
The crew’s job is to provide their best intelligent efforts to achieve the director’s stated goals. They have to provide the producer with a marketable product. To avoid confusion the tasks have to be assigned and you will be responsible for your success or failure if someone needs help you should always give it if you know what to do. You should build a leadership which consists of Teamwork, know your job, take responsibility, set examples, and ensure that a job is understood.
PRODUCTION crew
For production you need a Production Manager, a Location Manager, assistants, coordinator, and unit manager.
Ideally, they are very talented and experienced people. Detailed planning is essential to avoiding costly delays and keeping your crew full of the enthusiasm. Making a movie is hard, demanding work. If your crew is spending a lot of time standing around doing nothing, something is terribly wrong, that’s bad planning and lack of leadership. A Production Manager may be enlisted to manage the logistics for other units. There can be as many PMs as needed to manage. He works behind the scenes arranging, scheduling and expediting all production elements—cast, crew and equipment—in a manner that is the most efficient. He is responsible for the disbursement of company funds and may use a computer to.
The Unit Production Manager serves both the Director and the Producer by striving to get the best quality and still keep things on budget and on time. The Unit Production Manager supervises the crew and is in charge of the production office(s). The location manager is responsible for securing all film locations. This includes finding the location (at times with the help of a location service or scout), acquiring the proper permits, coming to terms with property owners and making sure the shoot runs smoothly. His other duties being negotiating of property rental, obtaining necessary permits, acting as liaison with the general public and government bodies, and arranging access for the production unit. He has an assistant who prepare and implement the daily logistical and safety plan for the production unit, including the maintenance of location supplies, the production unit moves, parking, traffic, crowd control, security and location clean up. Production Manager may have a coordinator who prepares and distributes shooting schedules, crew and cast lists, call sheets, production reports, movement orders, scripts and revisions. They coordinate all travel, accommodations, work permits, pick up and delivery of equipment, and coordinate the shipment of film and sound stock to and from the labs
The production team has to make provisions for five things on the floor
CAMERA, SETS, SOUND, MAKE UP / WARDROBE, CATERING /HOTEL. PDM’S,
Off Location he has five conditions to live with
ACCOUNTS, EDITING, MUSIC, LABORATORY, EFFECTS /CGI
On set there are his five liabilities or asserts
ACTOR, DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, TECHNICIAN, ASSISTANTS,
PRODUCTION CREW – TV
Mostly TV Programs are shot on the floor, and on the floor you have the audience, presenter, camera, sound, etc. TV based programs hence have a Floor Manager who takes care of everything in the studio or outside. He directs the floor, as the director is sitting in the console room. Floor manager is assisted by various stage hands and performs thousand of tasks as TV is a work of precision timing. Floor manager ensures everything in the studio goes smoothly, telling the host that a live link is ready and that the host should turn in a certain position to do the interview. They are the ears and eyes of the studio while a program is going live to air. In other words a Floor Manager should Relaying instructions from the control room to the studio floor. Assisting in the planning and preparation of productions .Rehearsing live shows. Giving cues and time counts. Keeping
Time. Looking after the people involved, including the audience. Referring to floor plans. Tackling any crisis/conflict with calm authoritative control. Being diplomatic. Maintaining continuity.
ACCOUNTANT
Money has to be tracked so we have an accountant. The accountant makes and compiles Vouchers (Payments, receipts, IOU), maintains ledger, Journal, Books (cash, bank, and purchase, sales), DR/CR Notes. Thereafter he is responsible for making Balance Sheets, P&L Account, Trial Balance, Cash flows, and stock statements. A MIS report is made in most of the corporate, which contains. What are you doing, what are you earning, what money you have, what is your target, where the money is going to come from that is forecast. When you file your personal returns what they ask you. (1) Proof of tax paid,(2) computation of Income, (3) Deductions, exemptions and rebate claimed, (3)Tax due on total income, Tax payable with interest. What are the criteria of paying taxes? If you owe a property, or have a phone or a car, have traveled abroad, have a credit card, and subscribe to a club you have to be a tax payer. And then what does middle or an upper class Indian Pay, Income tax, Professional tax, service tax, central sales tax and wealth tax to the center … and then you end up paying locally, the local sales tax, excise duty, property tax, octroi, and entertainment tax if you are in the state. And to save taxes you go in for rebates and BUY PPF, Equity linked saving schemes, Infrastructure Bonds, LIC Premium and UTI retirement benefits. If you just care for deductions you end up buying Med claims, take Home loans, Education Loans, give donations, , and claim a little bit on interest on securities.
TECHNICAL CREWS & TECHNICAL INFORMATION
CAMERAMAN
A Cameraman, cinematographer, Director of Photography who is ultimately responsible for the process of recording a scene in the manner desired by the director. The Director of Photography has a number of possible duties: selection of film stock, cameras, and lenses; designing and selecting lighting, directing the gaffer’s placement of lighting; film developing and printing.
Cameraman is an important tool, setting up a good shot depends how his mind reacts to a script, and he has to set up a shot that effectively communicate visual statements that are the building blocks of the overall story. To do this you first have to know what you want to express. Elements are graphical representations of action in reference to the shooting script. Dedicate screen space proportionally to the priority of each element in your shot. Always maintain sharp focus. Associate colors with moods, weather, professions, atmosphere and communicating skills.
Camera department need an operations need a DOP, a focus Puller, Assistant, Stedycam operator, transport.
To achieve his target they needs … a Camera, Lights, filters, gaffer equipment, and film stock,
In Camera he has a choice of a Mitchell, A Movie cam, an Arriflex, a Panavision or an aaton. In Arriflex you have a, Arri 3, Arri3C, Arri BL4, Arri 435, and Arri 535, you don’t talk of Arricam light, Arri 765 and Arri Studio. Panavision you speak of Millennium XL Panaflex, Panaflex Millennium, Platinume Panaflex, Golden Panaflex, and Panster II.

In video he has a choice of a u-Matic, a handy cam, a Beta, a VHS or a HD Camera. And use a VHS Tape, Beta, U-matic, Handy cam tapes or DG Tapes (Video detailed in TV Camera).
SHOTS
In an Extreme long shot, your characters are small in the frame and are used for establishing landscape. In a long shot you will see a little more of a character and is used to show a crowd, In a medium shot the character waist is shown and can be used in establishing two to three characters, in a close up Head and neck can be seen and is used to establish one character, and in an extreme close up the character fills the frame and is used for facial expression. .
When he shoots with the camera he uses five basic shots. Extreme LONG SHOT/ LONG SHOT, MEDIUM SHOT, CLOSE UP/Extreme Close Up, OVER THE SHOULDER, BIRD EYE VIEW,
MOVEMENTS
Camera movements depends on pan a camera, tilt a camera, and have a dolly shot, a crane / Aerial Shot, a Zoom Shot . On a dolly you can take a Dolly Shot, Dolly Up, Dolly In, Dolly Back, and Pull back
When the camera is stationery and rotates on horizontal axes it’s know as panning and if it moves on a vertical axes it’s called tilting. If you pan too fast its stobing,
Dolly is a flat bed with wheels on a straight or a round track. It is used to move a camera round a scene, the movement being parallel to the camera axis. The shots have to be a realistic motion that is you have to calculate the average sped of a character. A man when he walks casually he walks for 2 miles in a hour, when he walks his speed is 3 miles, when he takes a brisk walk his speed is 4miles and when he runs he runs at a speed of 8 miles an hour. Actions are smooth and hence it is important that this piece of equipment should have a smooth start and a smooth stop. When the camera moves up and down it’s called a crane shot. The same consideration for panning and tilting is applied to a crane shot.
CAMERA ANGLES
From a film camera you view an angle, which is determined by the focal length of the camera. For a 50mm lens the view is 46degrees, if you have a wide angle the view is around 63 degrees, if you have a telephoto lens the view is 18 degrees. In Television the angles vary. A Normal is 20degrees, a wide goes from 45-90degrees, and a telephoto around 5-10 degrees. A Zoom can magnify 10:100
When we talk of camera angles we speak refer them as - The bird eye view, High angle, Low angle, eye level, Canted angle.
LENS
A Camera lens is an important part of the camera. It can do wonders. Normal lens are lenses with a 35mm-65mm viewing angle. The most common lens is a 50mm. A wide angle lens has a focal length of 35mm or less, not good for close up’s are used to capture large scenes and group of people. Telephoto lens is larger than 65mm ++ can go up to 300mm++, and bring the subject closer, Camera shakes are common in these lenses and should be used with a tripod. Zoom lens has a range of focal length. A Zoom lens has a variable focal length and so camera “moves” can be made without actually moving the camera. Vertigo creator was Alfred Hitchcock, who synchronized the camera moment of a subject with that of zoom. A macro lens lenses allows you to come as close as .5 fts to a subject.
He could need a prime lenses, zoom lenses, Anamorphic lenses, Auto Focus lenses, or Macro lenses.
LIGHTS
Lights produces depth, shape and texture in a medium which is essentially flat and two dimensional.
For lighting he could require an HMI, Baby, a Bazooka, a sun gun or and Sun-gun, or a 5k . HMI is a enclosed, AC mercury arc lamp. Baby referred to a light unit which is smaller than a standard size unit of comparable intensity (i.e. baby 1K, baby 2K, baby,). Bazooka is Similar to a 2K stand, but without support legs. Sun gun a potable light running on battery.
To cut his lights he need a flag, a cutter, scrims, diffusers, wood cucoloris, Flag or a cutter is a devise which cuts light from the side, it can be black or white, or even can have a cloth on it, a scrim being a metal window screen that is placed in front of a light to decrease the light intensity. Cucoloris being a perforated material used to break the light. Diffusers are papers which are used to diffuse the intensity of light.
To on the lights you need power, sockets, electric boards, generator and tapes.
He would do a key, fill, edge/rim, background and ascend lighting. His light source would be natural, artificial, mixed, will have consistency and should make a mood. Mood are made by Scene Contrast which is controlled by relationship of key to fill light. These are your F-Stop, or your light ratio. 2:1 ratio is when the fill light is one F-Stop lower in illumination than the key light. A flat light used for TV shows and comedy movies, 4:1 two stops and 3:1 is normal contrast ratio. Suitable for drama or anything which requires good depth in lighting, 8:1 is three stop or high contrast used in horror films as it creates shadows. 16:1 is a ultra high contrast.

In mounts he may think of a tripod, a dolly, a crane, vehicle mounts, and handheld mounts.
To do justice and to build a mood he needs a Crane, Remote head, hot shots, dolly and tracks.
In Tripod he uses could be an O’Connor, Sachtler, and Ronford, vivitar or a Schulz.
In needs a fluid head, a gear head, remote head, Steadman or a bazooka head.
The stock he uses could be Kodak, Fuji, Afga,-Gevaert, 3M Ferrania, Technicolor, some are of the past some present but then you hear these names.
He would shoot on a format which could be an 8mm, 16mm, 35mm, 70 mm or an IMAX format.
Your frame rate can be fast motion, slow motion, over cranking/ under cranking, judder, motion artifact.
ASPECT RATIO
The ratio of the width to the height of the film or television image. The formerly standard ACADEMY APERTURE is 1.33:1 or the pan and scan. We see this on VHS video and TV shows. If you watch a movie in this format you would be missing about half the actual movie. Super 35 -2.35:1 aspect ratio which gives a rectangle picture as the top and the bottom frames are matted out and removed from the picture. framing the picture to fit the ratio of the screen. Widely used format. Panavision - With aspect ratios of 2.35:1 and 1.85:1, ANAMORPHIC processes CinemaScope - With aspect ratios of 2.66:1, 2.55:1,and 2.35:1 Technirama - variable aspect ratio. This process was developed by the Technicolor Corporation, as a way to continue using its three-color process in the wake of competing Eastman Color. It required both a specially developed sideways camera (like VistaVision) and a widescreen lens (like CinemaScope). WIDESCREEN ratios vary. In Europe 1.66:1 is most common, in the U.S., 1.85:1. such as CINEMASCOPE and Coming to television, in NTSC and PAL video, the present standard is 4:3. In widescreen video, it is typically 16:9; however, 14:9 has been used as a transition..

TV CAMERA TEAM.
Here you have operative cameraman, a lighting director, and a vision mixer who is like a chief cameraman. There is a distinction between a studio based show and a field operation. In studio the operatives push those camera’s trying to frame the subjects and trying to capture the capture the moments, while the vision mixer does the job of setting the colors. In field a cameraman should know how to film people for interviews, how to capture the excitement in a news story. Complimented with a lighting director who controls the lights, laying the lights for the whole of studio, In TV you work with two, three, four, eight, ten cameras. Hence you need a vision switcher, who is also like a DOP. At directors command he uses a joystick to switching from one image to the next and ensuring that the program goes to air smoothly. On a drama, the cameraman may join the team and use his film skills. He may select the locations too and has a say in the Look of the film.
TELEVISION CAMERA.
Today video camera has a video chip called a charged Coupled device (CCD) Some use CMOS chip. Video resolution is a measure of the ability of a video camera to reproduce fine detail. The higher the resolution the sharper the picture will look. Television camera needs certain level of light to produce good video. A normal camera has a vie finder, camera, zoom lens, focus control and Thumb zoom control. As video camera has inbuilt red, green and blue it requires a color balancing, in other words the camera has to be balanced on a white surface. When the white surface is on a white surface, the operator can push a white balance button and the will be automatically adjusted to produce pure white. On a Multi camera setup you may need digital process cards and CCU.
Motion Camera takes individual pictures at a rate of 24 frames per second. Television is different. Here each frame comprises of hundred of lines, and in those lines are thousand of points of brightness and color information. It’s like your eye. The normal lens in 35mm is 50mm lens. But in a video camera if the target is 20mm then the lens. used on 20mm on that camera will provide a normal angle under normal circumstances. Professional video camera have inbuilt neutral density filters in the filter wheel. Video Camera lenses can be classified into Studio, Field, ENH, EFP and Electronic Cinematography. The Studio/Field lens is enclosed in a metal housing that includes the Zoon. ENG/EFP are light weight have the control mounted on the lens. The Electronic Cinematography is designed to accept film camera categories. In Cinema we use F stop, in Television we use F. Stop which is based on actual light transmission of the lens at various opening. Other lingo of the Video camera being and which is important to understand is the composite and component video. Composite video means when the three signals are combined into one and component video is when the three signals remain intact and separated. In monitoring and controlling the picture quality a waveform monitor and a vectroscope are required. , in the former brightness of luminance level of video is displayed graphically and in the later relative color information is measured. In a studio shoot mostly we use key lights, fill lights, back light, background/ bounce lights and effect lights. Lights could be high key or law key. Lights are controlled by a light board. A Typical TV lighting is flat then the film lighting, this is not due to the reason that video is an inferior media, but then when you have 4 to 6 cameras operating you cannot make moods, specially when you shoot in 2:1 light ratio. Film has used its basic format since many a years, but then video formats have been changing and hence there is a lot of confusion. Today we use 8mm, VHS (Video Home Service), Beta, Video Disc, and Digital tapes. In professional Video we speak of DVCAM, Digital Beta, D5, DVCPRO, and HDCAM. The VCR has five basic functions being play, record, stop, rewind/fast forward and pause.

SOUND
Sound track is as important as creating an image. For this you need a good pilot track, sound effect track, ambience track, music track which is put on a mixed track for final film. You have two sorts of sounds analog or digital, the difference being in analog signals degenerate where as digital signals do not degenerate. For getting good sound on tape you may need microphones. The microphones you need could be on camera microphones, tie clips, multidirectional mikes, shot guns, boom with multi microphones.
Sound in a film goes through five elements DIALOGUES, MUSIC, AMBIENCE, EFFECTS, DUBBED SOUND; Sound system uses either a spool tape, or a DAT, a DA8, CD/Audio Cassettes. All tapes have a clear polyester film, coated with emulsion on one side, and a grey material on the other, topped with antistatic layer, put in a box.
Magnetic recording can be done on any video media, signals are standardized they have 29.97 frame per second in real time video, the original signal is analog, you get digital tapes which are in low & high end analog, and Low and high end digital. For Sound will need a sound man, a Boom man, Playback operator, Walkie Talkie operator and transport, his requirement being a deck like Negara, DAT, Boom Microphone, Radio Mikes, PA Playback, tapes. SOUND TRACKS could be a Variable Density Sound track, or a single variable Density Sound track, A Dual Area Soundtrack, a Multiple Variable Area (Mauver) Soundtrack, or a Magnetic soundtrack.
TV Sound Crew
Sound in TV is recorded under various situations. Studio based sound can be very technical than the field sound. In studio the sound is mixed and processed so it’s clear to the viewers. In field while recording he has to balance the sound, and the balancing has to be correct. Very well qualified people, capable of wiring the studio and can ensure that the quality is good. They have the know how and expertise to turn a scratchy sound in a smooth sound, as TV needs good sound. On Location shooting film style Sound Recordist need very little preparation time, as long as the locations are all suitably quiet. On location he will need at least one assistant. If many radio microphones are needed, or there is a big band, he may need several. They will probably arrive for the shoot, and then disappear

SOUND IN TELEVISION
With the coming of the digital audio and multiple sound tracks, TV sound has changed. Now audience is more worried about the quality. Hence Loudness and frequency has to be controlled which is done through a VU meter or through a graphic equalizer. Sound as you know is greatly affected by the room acoustics and studio. For this a combination of microphones are used which are controlled by an Audio Mixer or if you are in a studio by an audio console. Both work on five principles. Being
1 amplify incoming signals
2 allow for switching and volume level adjustments for a variety of audio sources
3 allow for creatively mixing together and balancing multiple audio sources to achieve an optimum blend
4 route the combined effect to a transmission or recording device
5 manipulating specific characteristics of audio,

Audio editing in television production is typically handled along with the video on a video editing system.
FILM SET & ART
Film sets are made by the Art Department.
The Production Designer’s, duties include designing, sketching, drawing, [planning, selecting location and working on film set, giving Art Department Budget to the producers. He has an Art Director, and works closely with the Director to give a look to the film. The Art Director works on his design and delegates responsibilities to the department like painting, construction, including special effect props. He along with set dresser dresses the set. He general sees that the budget works. The Art directors have Assistants who could be Graphic Designers, coordinators, Draftsman, etc. Would need the services of Carpenters, Painters, and Plumber to see the set is as per the design.
TV STUDIO Sets
The setting for a TV Show is more of a painted background, although expensive to create. The process is the same but they need expensive materials, as once built they have various advantages over on location setting. Background, lighting, acoustics, sound have to be considered for it may accommodate audience to boost the laugh track. The set has a background which is called a cycloramas. Cyclorama works in two ways – As a backdrop and as a sound controlling element. It could be made of anything, muslin, plaster, wood, black cloth, canvas. Cyclorama could also be used as a light reflector, and can be used to create background effects. The sets are symbolic or could be supportive. For example a talk show may have a city, a news set could have a news logo or a Plasma, a game show may have a scoreboard, or a TV set, could have windows or curtains. It could be a computer generated set or could have virtual settings. Studio sets are made of walls which are usually6- 8 fts high and 4 fts wide, lashed together with ropes and nails. They could be made of wood or with a wooden frame with muslin, glued with paper and painted on. Generally in TV production the floor is risen to get the lights from down, its mostly covered with material. In TV you don’t have to worry about a perfect construction job, as the floor is carpeted or tiled using Plastic blocks.
LOCATION & Studio
If you shoot outside India you may keep the provisions for Shipping, Customs, Passport/Visas, local production company, and Travel.
If you are going to locations provide for travel costs, hotels, PD’s, Catering, security. At location you may have to have permits, local contact, editing facilities, storage facilities and communication facilities. On location you may need a fireman, a doctor, guards, government rep and police. On location you may shoot exterior or interior, in day or at night, in rain or in heat or in coldness, you will be mobile and away from your loved ones. A studio consists of a cyclorama, floor, Air I condition/Fan, soundproofing, and rooms for makeup, hair, actors etc. A TV studio has floored, air-conditioning, sound proofing, control room, floor. A Sound studio has software, hardware, Air-conditioning, acoustics’ and a control room,
FILM SET & ART
Images don’t like walls they like lights. They don’t like heavy materials they need to be pleasing and light. Building sets should be avoided, use natural locations, use locations which exist, play with them. Don’t use canvas, it reflects, use it only as a backdrop. But then if you need to have a set – make some panels which can serve many purposes and use them again and again with different colors. Stages are great places to shoot in. But then it’s costly, specially if you are in an insulated and air-condition one. Find a place that provides enough space to set the camera back far enough for wide shots. Tall ceilings are not necessary; in fact low ceilings can be used as bouncers for lights. Sets can be built in Garages, on the roof of your house, in an empty warehouse. Beware of places with traffics, airplanes, human sounds they can cause a lot of pain while you shoot, specially if you are using sync sound.
On sets you need an Art director, a Set decorator, a prop buyer, draftsman and assistance n
To make a set you need a carpenter, a painter, an upholster, a plasterer, a plumber
The basic material used is Wood, Hardware, Cloth, plaster of Paris and Paints. If you shoot on a stage It needs five elements - That is the sets, wardrobe, camera, sound, makeup. The On Set Dresser is responsible to the Set Decorator and Property Master for on set continuity of Set Dressing, and the placement of all set dressing on set. On Set Dresser is responsible for a full tool and hardware package, flat dolly, truck dolly, blanket, packing material, cleaning kit, ladders, and a Polaroid camera.
FILM SPECIAL EFFECTS
You need a rain machine, a fog machine, a smoke machine, firearms or squibs. You may give electronic effect, a special visual effect, computer generated effect, optical effect or a mechanical effect. You can use mattes, glass shots, blue screen, miniatures, rear or front projection to help you create effects. Visual effects can contain Traditional Animation, 3D, Stop frames, go motion and stop motion; You may create a model, miniature or sculpture for it, use make up, animatronics, phosthetics, or phrotechnics for it. Make up effects could use prosthetic foam latex, gelatin, and silicone, putty and paint, while it could be a shatter, burn, freeze, stud body effect. Costume effects could be sewn spandex or fur suits, direct costume suits, silicone rubber, and suit sculpture over actors head or body casting. Prop and set effects are Hero prop, mechanical prop, stunt prop, environment, miniatures, and statues. CHARACTERS effects which are mascots, spokespeople, living icons that directly represent their clients. The people, animals, fish, plants, objects or aliens included in this character category.
Creating Characters that are finely detailed, with a high degree of character and expressive animation usually goes thru, sculpting, molding and coring, casting and cleaning skins and substructures. engineering the mechanisms necessary to animate the animal. and finishing- assembly, painting, putting in eyes, teeth, claws, applying and punching any necessary hair and surface detail. The Special Effects Coordinator manufactures, supervises, sets up, strikes, stores, and operates all of the supplies and equipment used to produce special effects such as; false atmospheric effects, window frosting, smoke, fire, torches, flames, steam, mist, water, fog, waterfalls, storms, cobwebs, portable spill tanks, waves, mechanical effects, explosives, electrical effects and any other special effects that may be required.
Only a licensed Special Effects Person is permitted to handle explosives or powder. The Special Effects Coordinator disburses the department’s budget, and assigns specific duties to others in the department. The Special Effects Coordinator determines the technique and usage of any special effects.

VIDEO TV EFFECTS
TV has a lot of user friendly effects which you can get at a stroke of a button.
MAKE UP HAIR
Make up Hair will need a Makeup man, a hair dresser, assistance, materials and transport.
Makeup and hair TV
In the days of high resolution video makeup has changed, you need less of makeup, primarily to cover facial defects and take the shine off face. For limited on camera appearance no special changes are required of hairstyle, just keep in mind oils and creams should be avoided. Video is not very friendly with shining material. Bald heads may need a powder base to match the skin tone.
WARDROBE
Costume Designer main function is to breakdown the script and costume plot of the film, give color. For this they may have to make sketches and render the costumes and determine the needs of costume. Should be able to give the costume budget or work within the production budget. They are supposed to select the fabric, accessories and see if they can be hired. They assign and clarify duty of various people working in their department. A costume designer determines the visual look of the film in consultation with the Director, Production Designer, Art Director and Director of Photography, producer should never be ignored so even the producer. Her assistant is responsible for doing necessary costume research, organizes work and storage areas, manages inventory of costumes, shop supplies, and equipment, supervises setup, wrap and the workshop, coordinates the schedule of fittings, arranges for the rental, maintenance, and replacement of costumes and equipment, and acts as a principal buyer and shopper . Wardrobe Costumers duties are to act as the Costume Designer’s representative on set and do script and costume plot breakdown. Is in charge of the costumes when they arrive on the shooting set, and makes sure the costumes are presented and worn as the Designer wishes them to be worn. The Costume Assistant’s duties are to organize, supply, and maintain the truck in an orderly fashion and to maintain costumes in a camera-ready condition, including laundry, dry cleaning, aging, and necessary breakdown as required.
You need a costume designer, a men costumer, a woman costumer, an assistant and a transport. In the wardrobe you will have hired costumes, purchased costumes, materials to alter, wash and a rack
Wardrobe – TV
TV wardrobe is mostly sponsored or some time purchased keeping in view the presenter, anchor. The audience brings their own costumes. The actors bring their own costumes. All sort of wardrobe is acceptable but then there are some rules. Colors which reflect such as white should be avoided. Black against the dark background should be avoided, as it can appear chalky or the tones can merge. Close spaced stripes can interact with camera scanning, bold patterns can distract and give a teasing appearance, Shining cloths and metals can be very distracting under hard lighting.
PRODUCTION LAB
In production lab always have provision for negative, positive, developing, special visual effects, video format transfers. The modern motion picture laboratory uses the continuous processor. In essence, the continuous processor moves film through the appropriate sequences of developers, fixers, stop baths, washes, and dryer. Negative can develop some problems , the common one being waterspouts/ dirt marks, Emulsion skiving, Tracky film, Scratches, stains and Ferrotyping. The film negative box contains a strip of plastic, coated with 20 or more individual layers of gelatin chemicals , put in a black bag, and a box sealed with a tape – to be opened in a lab Cow , hamburger and a roll of film has one thing in common that’s the Gelatin. When we speak of color negative we speak of red, blue, green, Magenta and Cyan. Never I have heard the negative is yellow.
What does color do us?
1 Color appeals to our emotions and feelings.
2 Color is the most effective element in arousing an emotional response in the viewer.
3 color creates an atmosphere to which we respond before we respond to any other visual element.
4 Differences between colors can cause feelings of drama or excitement.
5 Changes in color help guide the viewer’s eye around the image.
POST PRODUCTION LAB
In post lab you provide for reprints, master positive, master negative, answer print, and release print.
POST PRODUCTION
EDIT
Film is not shot in sequences; each shot has to be edited. This need a good sense of judgment, sense of timing, it needs eye-hand coordination skills, technique of making and breaking the story, and patience. Traditional methods were painful. You needed a movieola, a rewinding machine, a table, hot splice machine and a razor blade. You had to cut the negative, match frames, use optical printing, make tracks for film and make tracks for sound. Then came another generation which used computers and were named avid, Media 100, Evesham Movies, Poweroid 9212, Advent P4. Some companies made their own software in build in their machines, other PC used stuff like 3D Max, Bryec2, Light wave, and Media forge, Direct 3D, used cards like DC 20, Targa, Miro Video, Clear Video, and Movieto. Video editing is done with a push button, and you come across terms like control tracks, time code, time based corrections, assembly edits, EDL. You do online or offline edits, use A/B rolls, do character generations, computer graphics and can insert edits.
For edit the film is transferred from negative to positive and the ¼ sound tapes are transferred to Sprocket Magnetic tapes, and then the dailies are syncs that are picture and sound. You put in the dissolves etc. Then you do the edge numbering or coding – and then edit and a final product comes out that’s the edited

TV EDITS –

The edit process of film and TV are the same but then in video most of the rules are defined. 90% of Television unlike film is based in Studio. Edits can be preformed and in general what is done is insert shots, make cutaway cuts, and do a bit of parallel cutting, thematically and relational cutting. Television is a close up media. Video has its own problems where continuity is concern, which can be alleviated if color balancing is done, The continuity problem faced could be color balance, tonal balance, light levels, sharpness, and recording quality. You have access to two type of editing one being the online editing and the other off line editing. In online you use the original footage and in off line you use copies of the original work. In video through a video switcher you can get the desired special effects.

It all boils down to five even the focal length between a subject and camera has to be five feet

When we go into post we again have five basic elements, Special effect, Editing, Post production Sound, and music.
It may be Analog, Digital, Magnetic, Optical or Dolby. It may be on a Dolby, LC Concept, optical track, source track or a pilot track.
While shooting for an Ad film way back in 1997 I asked the DOP why he is only using one filter for the entire ad. He just looked at me and said “now films are not made through a cameraman contribution” they are made in post, and if he manipulates here they would have difficulty in post. Since then we hear of digital post production liner and nonlinear. Actually nonlinear has transformed post production. Nonlinear is done through by dumping the footage on a disk called digitizing. Nonlinear is the fastest way to edit. The basic principle of editing remains the same, except you have everything on hand. Just by a drop of the mouse and press of a keyboard e you can do the magic. Computer allows you to make changes immediately. You can manipulate your video and audio, In real time you can put in effects, the only difficulty you face is there is no fast way of digitizing; it takes place in real time, so if you have a 30 mts tape it would take you 30 mts plus the time to put the equipment on.

Media is a big problem specially television in which you have some common problems being Copyright, access to location, invasion of privacy, deformation and misappropriation or cashing of value without consent. For this a TV producer should get a talent release form and location a location release signed as an ethical measure. You cannot just open three legs and shoot anyone, anywhere …. And in any position. In television as it reaches your bedroom’s certain codes have to be maintained.

But at the end of it you have one film …. And one censor board AND ONE REASON WHY WE DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN …. We want a HIT. At last is it not a passion.
While you READ
You’ll go deep into your mind and focus on:
· The basics of format, structure and story
· The foundations of storytelling for the screen
· Developing strong characters and believable dialogues
· Writing visually
· Making your script marketable

Magic Five - Understanding Life

My first story. First story always leaves an impression in your life. Well that’s what happened with me. Gimple the fool was the first story I every read in my life. It was a story which I understood. You could only understand life once you were in 11th during my times. Till then you were considered a kid. Television for you used to be a weekly program on film songs called “chitrahar” and in hostel you used to be shown films on Saturday followed by English Food. In Cinema House we went for movies and we were exposed to classical films or epics. The first film I ever saw in my life which could be considered opening to the world was “Bobby” in 1973. We spend our own pocket money; We escaped from hostel just because we thought the song “Hum tum ik kamara mei band ho” had sexual screens. Just because we all were in the stage of puberty and wanted to know what masturbation is all about. And then why not Bobby bike used by Raj Kapoor was famous too and then the film was banned in Delhi.
My life has been that of Gimple the fool …. To sum it I would read some lines from Gimple the Fool by Isaac Bashevis Singer.
“I am Gimple the fool, I don’t think myself a fool, on the contrary that’s what folk call me. – What did my foolishness consist of? I was easy to take in”.
“No doubt the world is entirely an imaginary world , but it is only once removed from true world, whatever may be there , it will be real without complications, without ridicule, without complications, without deception – even Gimple cannot be deceived”.
God has been unkind to me; he made me a practical person. He did not give me rights to think, he never gave me rights to be insecure, have Art Anxiety, have creativity and hence I could not be Eccentric. Maybe he thought that creativity is not a comfortable land to live in. But then God I bought myself insecurity, sensitivity and Art anxiety. You too can purchase it. You can become a Weirdo. But let me tell you the reality and the reality is Eccentricity is deliberate as it construed as being genius. It gives you flexibility and makes you be a creator without interference. It gives you rights to be original.
For me being creative is a code of conduct. A conduct which breeds sensitivity and gives me power to think. The moments of insecurity, fantasy and creativity are truly expression of post modern identity. While creating you do have to be sensitive but then it’s for that moment of creation. I may put in when it comes to money every one becomes practical, when it comes to contracts every one of us become practical. In the Entertainment and creative field personal behavior of being a weirdo gives rich encouragement to be an eccentric. Actors, Entertainers, Writers, Directors, we all relish our eccentricity for we are people’s people and they feel nice about it. We all want to be known as special people so what’s the best thing to do become a weirdo, become an eccentric. And why not we are the so called creators. No one else has rights to write but only us. We are the dreamers. We have embraced eccentricity and therefore we have full liberty to be creative.
The fact is that the creative process requires a sober and healthy mind. mental illness is only a hindrance to creative thinking. Don’t be insecure for in India you don’t have an inbuilt security system. Don’t run after money. Think Positive, Have confidence in your ability, There is competition everywhere but then if you can think well no one can beat you. Don’t get into insanity mode.
Thinking goes through a process which is very simple and here it is.
Sleep, Breast, Penis, menstruation, puberty both in male and female, death all goes thru five stages, so why not creativity. Film making is all about relationship and creativity and hence is the world. If you want to do a script or write you must consider your Inner Psychological world and your outer physical world.
OUR INNER, PSYCHOLOGICAL WORLD consists of reflected in personality types, emotional tones, areas of the body, sense perceptions, and stage.
THE OUTER, PSYSICAL WORLD consists of reflected in environments, colors, the elements, types of landscapes, and seasons
You have a childhood, an adolescent age when you masturbate or you get your periods for the first time then you have your youth … a time when you go out for your first official date, then you have your adult hood in which you get married and get your andropause and menopause and then you have old age … five stages of life … funny is it not…. The seed takes five steps before its harvested. Even when you smoke you perform five actions,
ELEMENTS
The Five Elemental Energies of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water encompass all the myriad phenomena of nature. It is a paradigm that applies equally to humans.” So says the Yellow Emperor’s classic of Internal Medicine,
According to ancient Indian philosophy, everything in this universe is composed of five elements. The human body is also made up of the five elements and the soul. These five elements are: Prithvi or earth, Apa or water, Tejas or fire, Vayu or air, Akash or space. The five elements of the Buddhism are Void, Water, Earth, Fire and Air. I believe if you can think every issue of creativity in five ways you can become a good human being and your creative impulses can grow. These elements tell us that God is deathless power, and so is a pen… pen never dies.
As a scriptwriter your business in life is objective, external and material for the most part. We see the oceans, we see the wind blowing and we see the stellar system; we see the five elements,—Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether. So, Earth differs from Water, Water differs from Fire, etc, so what we can feel is being different. Earth possesses the property of smell and constitutes the corresponding sense, the nose. Water possesses the property of taste and constitutes the sense of taste. Fire possesses colors and constitutes the eye. To air are due the sense of touch and the qualities of touch. To ether are due the ear and sounds. The multiplicity of reality comes out of fire by condensation, becoming humid air, then water, and finally earth. But this is balanced by rarefaction, and the earth liquefies, then evaporates, and finally returns to pure energy.
Emotions, virtues and Precepts.
Live begins with emotions World and that’s a flow you follow. Art, Scriptwriting & Film making is all about emotions, virtues and Precepts. Our emotions being Love, Anguish, Awe, Triumph and Joy We live balancing human relationship the virtue of which being benevolence, justice, courtesy, integrity and wisdom To attain genuine happiness, we have to look inward - toward the self. When we do not realize that our soul is different from the external objects, we become involved in passions - anger, pride, intrigue and greed. These in turn lead to violence, falsehood, stealing, unchastely and possessiveness. Thus ignorance is the root cause of vices. It prevents us from practicing the five virtues of non-violence, truth, non-stealing, chastity and non-possessiveness. To be able under all circumstances to practice five things constitutes perfect virtue; these five things are gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness and kindness. Confucius taught five virtues a gentleman should practice every day to live a healthy, harmonious life: Ren is the virtue of benevolence, charity, and humanity; Yi, of honesty and uprightness; Yì may be broken down into zhong,, doing one’s best, conscientiousness, loyalty; and shù,, reciprocity, altruism, consideration for others, and Confucius’ early version of the Golden Rule, “what you don’t want yourself, don’t do to others.” Zhi, knowledge; Xin, the virtue of faithfulness and integrity; and, Li, correct behavior, or propriety, good manners, politeness, ceremony, worship. Sikhism talks of the five virtues of truth as being Truthful, Patience, perfection, contentment and pardon. The five pleats in the front are the five virtues; gotoku, of Japanese traditional society, with the one in the back representing all five virtues are actually one major one, that of being a complete human being: Chuu: loyalty, Ko: justice, Jin: humanity; compassion, Gi: from giri; or honor, Rei: respect. Buddhism talks of The Fivefold Virtue for self-confidence being Faith, Morality, Knowledge, Perseverance, Wisdom. This will not only get you confidence but will also get you Power and Prosperity The five Precepts being no killing , no theft, chastity, sobriety and no lying. Learning this you can achieve the experience the five miracles of story telling. Being - There is something special about a storyteller, Stories come to us, You never know how a story will affect the universe, Stories have a life and power of their own, The universe conspires to have stories told. Five actions of yours can be countenance, sight, thought, speech, listening.
ANIMALS
What are characters all about – Including human being? Scriptwriting need’s characters and hence to make your character work you need to give then some sort of a characteristic qualities. Hence I can say story need Animals. While you think of Animal think of the body, what it contains, think of poison, Animals can be scaled, winged, naked, furred or shelled. The five poisons animals being Snakes, toads, lizards, scorpions and centipedes. From animals you can learn the art of grappling, power striking, kicking skills, speed hitting, and soft, yielding techniques. We have, you might say, a fivefold mind, or, more dramatically, we are a five-minded animal, in whom different kinds of understanding jostle together and fold on one another, to some degree remaining “somewhat distinct. Human beings should learn the art of Qi Gong designed by the famous doctor Hua Tuo in the Han dynasty. Through imitating the movements, sounds and breathing of the tiger, deer, bear, monkey and bird, the Five Animal Qigong brings us back to our free human nature. It is enjoyable to practice and effective in revitalizing our energy and rejuvenating our body. Symbolically, the animals are related to the five element colors, seasons, internal organs, sensory organs and emotions. The Hua style of Five Animals is practiced through simple forms of movements, meditation and spontaneous play of the animals. It is an important part of the Hua Gong system focusing on physical fitness and vitality
HUMAN & SMELL
How do you learn Action? Action is body, body teaches you action or is it the Hunger, love etc. Body consist of. The first being Bones, flesh, skin, nadis and hair, the second being semen, blood, fat, urine and mucus. The third being a need Hunger, thirst, sleep, lethargy and Luster. The forth being Running, Hunting, using strength, the fifth being Love, enmity, shyness, fear, and attachment. These can be strength of an action.
Five things we desire being Survival, meeting people and family, achievements name fame, to do something, and solitude. Our five attributes being patience and greed, purity and attachment, anger, create and ego –I-ness. We do five activities in a day walking, talking, eating, picking up and placing objects, and discarding waste. And again five common ailments are Cold/Cough, Fever, Headache, Constipation, Lose motions. Aristotle – The Nichomachean Ethics talks about anger and he says “Anyone can become angry – that is easy. But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right way – that is not easy.” Tibetan teacher Chogyan Trungpa replying to a question about how to handle anger. States , try to find out why there is anger, let the angry person explain his feelings, don’t argue back, express your feeling rationally, and maintain control of your own feelings. Develop Smell. Five Smells are associated with goatish, burning, fragrant, rank, and rotten. Think of the smell of you organs. The Organs being liver, heart, spleen, lungs, and kidney. While writing Action you have to give description and hence this could help you.
CONSTRUCTION
While constructing a Screenplay you need some elements of Color and Metal. Metal and Color are what a set is all about. The five metals are iron, copper, gold, silver and tin. The five color being yellow, red, black, white, and blue
RELIGION …. God
Man has been misguided by many a Philosophy and religion, what he is looking for is values and ethics in one hand and being a scoundrel on the other. 80% of the world follows five religions of the world, being Hinduism, CHRISTIANITY, Islam, JUDAISM, and Buddhism. It is by using the Five Spiritual Practices taught by most world religions that we consciously expand our awareness of the Divine, entering into communion with the Oneness of Life
Who am I? The face I see every morning in the mirror? The eyes that scrutinize it? The heartbeats within my chest? Or the thoughts that race through my brain while I am wondering about all this?
Yuga: The duration of a cycle of the manifested world, between its creation and its destruction is called “a divine year” or “a day of Brahma”, or a kalpa. Each kalpa is divided into one thousand equal periods or chatur-yuga; each chatur-yuga is again divided into four Yuga or Ages, the duration of each one being decreasing in course of time : Satya-yuga or Golden Age, when Harmony rules all over the world, Treta-yuga, during which this harmony is maintained only thanks to individual and collective human efforts, Dvapara-Yuga, which is marked by the disintegration of life principles and morality, at last the Kali-Yuga, also called Iron Age or Age of Ignorance, when everything is collapsing. The present period is included in the Kali Yuga; extensive wars and fanatical gross ignorance unfortunately look in support of this pessimistic view. The Kali Yuga is said to last for 432000 years “only”, and another Golden Age will follow in the frame of a new cycle
The Mahabharata: the greatest fight for rights took place for five villages by five brothers. Sanjaya said “Yudhisthira is more saddened by the dishonor of his queen Draupadi, then by losing his kingdom. He has no craving to rule over kingdom. If five villages are given to him he shall be satisfied. Indraprastha, Varnavata, Vrikaprastha, Jayanta any one more village he wants.”
GITA: The Krishna chariot they rode had a body. . The five horses represent the five senses (tongue, eyes, ears, nose and skin). The reins, the driving instrument, symbolize the mind, the driver is the intelligence, and the passenger is the spirit soul. Gita talks of five great elements, false ego, intelligence, the un-manifested, the ten senses, the mind, the five sense objects, desire, hatred, happiness, distress, the aggregate, the life symptoms, and convictions—all these are considered, in summary, to be the field of activities and its interactions. What did Krishna tell Arjun in the 11th Chapter of the Gita when he showed his form to him. Do your actions for my sake; Have me as your ultimate refuge; be my devotee; be rid of all attachment; Have no hate towards anything or anyone. Then you shall reach Me.:
According to Gandhi, The five cardinal vows are: non-violence, truth, non-stealing, celibacy, non-possession. The five casual vows are: bodily purity, contentment, the study of the scriptures, austerity, and meditation of God. In Gita in the first five chapters the Philosophy of life is given. From 6th chapter onwards it’s Bhagti.
1. Arjun gives up determination to fight at the battlefield of kuruksetra out of grief n pity when he sees his intimate relatives, teachers and friends in both armies ready to fight and sacrifice their lives. 2. Krishna begins his teachings to Arjun and explains the distinction bet. The temporary material body and eternal spiritual soul. A characteristic of self realized person is explained.
3. Karma Yoga i.e. one must engage in activity where actions can bind one to the world or liberate. Perform for the pleasure of god’s will without selfish motives and attain transcendental knowledge.4. Transcendental knowledge, spiritual knowledge of the soul, of god and their relationship. Krishna explains history of Gita, purpose and significance of his periodic descents to the material world and the necessity of approaching a guru.
5. Action performed and their fruits to attain peace, detachments, forbearance, spiritual vision and bliss.
HINDUISM
As per Hindu the five plane are Physical, Astral, Celestial, Balance, Human. The five charkas being Muladhara, Svadhisthana, Manipura, Anahata and Visuddha. The five elements being Earth, water, fire, Air and ether,
According to the sacred texts, The Gayatri is Brahma, Gayatri is Vishnu, Gayatri is Shiva, and Gayatri is Vedas. Gayatri later came to be personified as a Goddess. She is another consort of Lord Brahma. She is shown as having five heads It is said that the recitation of the Gayatri five times a day is as effective as performing the panchamahayagya. The Gayatri divinizes the five elements; it represents the presiding deities of all the five. Gayatri is worshipped as a Five-Faced Goddess:
Om is the first
Bhoor-bhuvahssuvah is the second,
Thath Savitur Varenyam is the third,
Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi is the fourth,
And Dhiyo Yonah Prachodayath is the fifth face.

As per Hindu mythology and as a matter of fact human body or every creature human beings, livestock, animals, birds, fishes, plants and trees are depends upon panch maha tatva or bhuthas. (Five basic elements of survival).
1]. Prathavi (Earth) - Gives shape of body through bones, tissues, muscles, skins & hairs.
2). Vayu (Air) - Helps respiration and stimulates the nervous system.
3). Agni (Five) - Gives motion, vigrous & vitality to body also helps in digestion, stimulation etc.
4) Jal (Water) - Represent blood, secretions of glands etc.
5) Akash (Atmosphere) - Builds the character and man’s mental and spiritual faculties.
Lord Sri Krishna has said in Bhagawad Gita that the holy fig tree personifies his own glory. The five-trees (Pancha-vat) are considered as very sacred in India, they are: - Pakur, Banyan, Bilva, Mango and Peepul. The twigs of these are used in any haven
Vastushastra is an ancient building science which covers the philosophy and theory of Architectural works to construct any building and as well as living style of people. Vastushastra is based on various natural energies which is available free cost in atmosphere like
-
Solar Energy from Sun.
Lunar Energy from Moon.
Earth Energy.
Sky Energy.
Electric Energy.
Magnetic Energy.
Thermal Energy.
Wind Energy.
Light Energy.
Cosmic Energy.

Utilization of such energies gives us pleasure peace, prosperity and money etc in our life. Now days we are having National Building code, which gives us certain regulations to construct building, whereas in past our ancestors were having Vastu Shastra as a religious & rigorous code. As per Shastra Vastu Purush is god of building science, hence let us pray
The Aagamas lay down the rules for the ritual, rites and the worship of Gods. There are five of them based on the worship of Shiva, Vishnu, Ganesha, Shakti and Surya.
Tantras have been revealed by Lord Shiva through his five mouths namely Ishana, Tatpurusha, Sadyojata, Vamadeva, and Aghora. These very five mouths represent his five energies namely Chitshakti (consciousness), Anandashakti (Bliss), Ichhashakti (will), Jnanashakti (knowledge) and Kriyashakti (Action) respectively.
Tantric Studies: After five drinks you are off as per Tantric studies a devotee can drink five cups of wine after which sexual union takes place. Tantras recommend worship by means of Panchattva i.e. five elements of fundamental principles. These Panchatatyas are called five elements or five makaras (words with initial sound ma) which are madya or liquor, mansa or meat, matsya or fish, mudra or corn and maithuna or sexual intercourse. Man accomplishes sex in five seconds for that’s the time between the first feel of oncoming organism and the moment when he actually explores. Tantra borrows several concepts from the Kama Sutra, specifically sexual positions and techniques. The five basic lovemaking positions of Tantra are taken from the manual. They are:
· The man on his back with the woman on top
· The woman on her back with the man on top
· The woman and man on their sides, facing each other
· The rear-entry position with the man in back of the woman
· The woman and man both seated, usually facing each other
ISLAM
In Islam there are but five Principles. Which state as under:
1 There is no God but God (Allah), and Muhammad is His prophet. Prayer to Allah five times daily
2 Charity- helping the poor and providing for upkeep of places of prayer.
3 Fasting- never drink alcohol or eat pork and certain other foods; and no eating, drinking or smoking during daylight for one month (Ramadan).
4 Pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in a life time. After Muhammad’s death, the Muslims tried to develop specific policies based
SIKHISM
In Sikhism the five principles are the oneness of God; the oneness
Of humanity; equality of women; tolerance towards other religions; and service to humanity. Five symbols of the Sikh faith being: un-cut hair, for saintliness; a comb for cleanliness; a steel bracelet to be worn on the right wrist, representing godly ideals; shorts or trousers, representing an active life; and a sword, to protect the oppressed
JEWS
Jews principal of faith as told by Philo He the five articles are God is and rules; God is one; the world was created by God; Creation is one, and God’s providence rules Creation. We call it the five books of Moses.
BUDHISIM
In Buddhism Go Rin No Sho means a book of five rings. The “Go Dai” (Five Greats) of Buddhism are the five elements which make up the cosmos: ground, water, and fire, and wind, void. The “Go Rin” (Five Rings) of Buddhism is the five parts of the human body: head, left and right elbows, and left and right knees
The Five Precepts of are:
1. Do not kill
2. Do not steal
3. Do not indulge in sexual misconduct
4. Do not make false speech
5. Do not take intoxicants
Five conditions of panatipata (Killing)
1. The being must be alive.
2. There must be the knowledge that it is a live being.
3. There must be an intention to cause death.
4. An act must be done to cause death.
5. There must be death, as the result of the said act.
If all the said five conditions are fulfilled, the first precept is violated.
Five conditions of Adinnadana (Stealing)
The property must be in the possession of another person.

If all the said five conditions are fulfilled, the second precept is violated.
CHRISTIANITY
In Christianity it is said God speaks to us in five ways, and these are the Holy Sprit, Prayer, The Church, The Holy Scriptures, and Circumstances. It has five major doctrines.
There are but Five Pillars of Christianity
1 Our Shahada (creed) is ‘Jesus Christ is Lord’ (Phil 2:11).
2 Our Saum (fast) is loosing the chains of injustice (Is 58:6).
3 Our Zakat (almsgiving) is ourselves as living sacrifices (Rom 12:1; 2 Cor 8:5).
4 Our Salat (prayer) is to pray without ceasing (Phil 4:6).
5 Our Hajj (pilgrimage) is to the heavenly Jerusalem (Heb 12:22).
In Christianity the Rosary is the prayer of contemplation par excellence. Divided into three parts, each part brings the speaker to contemplate five different mysteries of Christ and the enactment of his salvation drama on earth. The first five are the Joyous mysteries, which recall events surrounding his birth. The second five are the Sorrowful mysteries, which recall aspects of his death. Salvation: It is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
5. There are not more than five primary colors, yet in combination they produce more hues than can ever been seen. There are not more than five cardinal tastes, yet combinations of them yield more flavors than can ever be tasted.”
JAINISM
In Jainism we have the five great vows
Non-violence - Ahimsa, Truth - Satya, Non-stealing - Achaurya or Asteya, Celibacy/Chastity - Brahmacharya, Non-attachment/Non-possession - Aparigraha the five senses are touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing. In education you have five levels. A kinder school, school, junior college, /university and professional courses,
GEOGRAPHY – PLANET EARTH
When you think of the earth we talk of the Tropic of Cancer, The tropic of Capricorn, The Equator, The Artic circle and the Antarctic Circle. When we talk geography we talk of Location, Place, Human environment, Movements and Region, when we talk of Earth Crust we talk of Inner core, outer core, Lower Mantle, Upper Mantle, and Crust. When we talk of Atmosphere we talk of Troposphere, Stratosphere, Ozone layer, Mesosphere, Ionosphere. Surprisingly we have five seasons – spring, summer, autumn, winter and rainy. Earth is made of five Chemicals Iron, Oxygen, Silicon, Nickel and Sulphar governed by five major planets being Sun, Venus, Jupiter, Moon and Sun. The screenplay talks of Morning, Evening, Night, Afternoon or the Magic Hour (Dawn and Dusk)
Mathematics
Five famous mathematicians discovered the equations which resulted in change in Physics. Gullien is a professor of mathematics and physics and is a highly respected man has chosen five equations in mathematics which resulted in change in Physics .The five equations and their authors are
1) F=GxMxm/d^2 Newton and the Law of Universal Gravitation,
2) P+rhox ½ nu^2 =CONSTANT, Daniel Bernoulli and the Law of Hydrodynamic Pressure,
3) DelXE=-dB/dt, Michael Faraday and the law of electromagnetic induction,
4) Delta S universe > 0, Rudoph Clausius and the second law of thermodynamics and
5) E=mxC^2, Einstein and the special theory of relativity. Guillen spends a lot of pages describing the nature of the equation, the character of the inventor and the impact of the results on society.
HISTORY – CIVILIZATION
In order to be a writer understands the evolution of human and also the world we live in. The first civilization began with systems of primitive or ideographic writing; the second, with alphabetic writing; the third, with printing in Europe; the fourth, with electronic technologies of communication; and, the fifth civilization, with computer technology.
Human evolution happens in stages and for the moment we are about half way. The stages we went through are, the Polar period, the Hyperboreic period, the Lemurian period, the Atlantic period, the Post-Atlantic period
WE LIVE WITH
Today a human being wants to live with five basic things. A Television, Computer with games, Mobil, Microwave/ Aerated and Internet. The five desires in human are those for wealth, sex, food, fame, and sleep. Human live with Toxic, Synthetic, Litter, Non Biodegrade waste and pesticides. Our water source has Contaminated rives, habitat, marine pollution, oil spills, sewages which bother us. Words like global warming, ozone depletion, smog, pollution and overpopulation is words which will make you think the moving pictures.
Corruption five major key players being the Politicians, bureaucrat, businessman, NGO the criminal. Our system encourages corruption for there is lack of transparency, goods and services are scare, obsolete rules and procedures which are time-consuming encourage speed money, the legal system which works on the principle that everybody is innocent until proved guilty. Finally, the casts which gives protection to their own tribe men. We talk about people being thick as thieves not thick as honest men. Report of 4th August says that estimated amount paid in bribes by Indian every year is 26728 crs. If you all the number comes to 25, divided it by 5 and comes the average of what everyone earns. This is how you create logic.
As you come into the world you will realize you have to care for yourself. No one tells you or gives you explanation or teach you for we all believe that knowledge is power , we are all insecure about the value of our knowledge, we don’t trust each other, we are afraid of negative consequences, last but not the least we work for other people who don’t tell what they know.
THE PEOPLE
But then the President, the Prime Minister, the Cabinet, the Parliament and the babu’s in the government gives us hope while the Brahmanas, the ksatriyas, the vaisyas, the sudras and the Dalits all are to be blamed. So let’s make Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and Buddhist work for it.
So if you know your concept of FIVE you can make a great script and become the best film maker. Think only of the five skandhas that comprise a human being. They are: (1) Name and form (usually defined as physical elements), (2) Feelings or sensations, (3) Perceptions or awareness, (4) Emotional reactions, (5) Consciousness, the relation between subject and object.
SEX & MARRIAGE
Sex and Marriage teach you about relationship, which is a part of writing a script. Every Script does not contain sex but then sex is becoming a part and parcel of making a hit.
THE FIVE KINDS OF SEX
1) The first is Smurf Sex. This happens during the first 3 months, you both keep doing it until you’re blue in the face.
2) The second is Kitchen Sex. This is at the beginning of the marriage; you’ll have sex anywhere, anytime, even in the kitchen.
3) The third kind is Bedroom Sex. You’ve calmed down a bit, perhaps have kids, so you got to do it in the bedroom.
4) The fourth kind is Hallway Sex. This is where you pass each other in the hallway and say, “Fuck you!”
5) The fifth kind of sex is Public Sex. This is when you get divorced and your wife screws you in front of everyone in the courtroom
Marriages are made in heaven and lived in hell, so said someone. The first five days of Honeymoon are important. Either you can make it or break it. Then comes the first five years of Marriage in which at least 10% of modern Indian get effected., then come the five years from the time the first child was born again you can make it or break it, then comes the time of five years when you have to fight for your divorce. Well now people have started having mid life crises which usually take place from 25 years from the date of marriage. Relationship is a compromise, so is life. There are no hard and fast rules.
RELATIONSHIP SALE
IN EVERY relationship, there are invisible barriers and border lines to be crossed; there is a constant question whether to do it or not. Having overcome the barrier, both sides have to make compromises and maintain a balanced relationship; while it can cause hurt a little, it also welds the people involved. In media I could say it imposes relationships. You want to see this BUY ME. It’s a pack shot you see, an original thought has been converted into a pack shot. Not only film and television the whole media has been dramatized. The only left sole is the daily paper you get. Reading gives you a valuable experience. It does not impose the thought on you. Yes if you do read radical stuff it can. But then in a visual media what takes place. In Television the Advertiser wants to control your thought. In film a director wants to control your thought, now a new concept has started that’s in build advertising again where the adviser will become powerful and the audience the escape goat. A news paper reader reads the paper, what he seeks to read, An Normal middle class reader always looks for the first page, the editorial page, entertainment/spots, Business/ stock and the city news. Given a choice he is only hunting, for five crucial new which will make his day or break it. But then in television and film I always wonder what we are looking for. Yeti Jindal
Discourse and Intercourse
Rules of Fundraising
The Goal
Why do you need more money and what you shall do with it Are you sure that the cost is right? Get going with your needs
The Resources
Who will help? Why would he/ she help you? How and through whom can you reach the right person? How can you meet people you don’t know?
The Approach
Approach only those Sources who may likely give money. Think who can be your source for funding. Is it the Corporate? Funding agencies? NGO? Foundations? Individuals? School? College? Boyfriend? A Believer? Tap everyone who know who will back out.

Proposal

Proposal should be in writing. The amount of time you spend with people giving the money is directly correlated with their stake in your project. Always give people plans in writing this should b e a schedule, a script or synopsis, the cost. Be Brief, Don’t waste time. Apply your head. Before approach think and feel why the guy on the opposite table will give you the money. Analyze every situation.

Keep In Touch With
Once you get the money you said you needed, make sure you do what you said you would and update funding agency or anyone who is backing you up. Always say Thank you.

Your destiny as a creator is to live, laugh, love, to express and come together

Discourse and Intercourse
The wild sib in FFPC tells you all about film making. Where as Wild means wild, Sib means relationships and FFPC can be converted into many a ways. It could be Feature Film Pen Cut, First Film Pen cut, Feature Film Perfect Cut, Production Cut, and Pre Cut. Use it as you want. Then in reality the idea is to make you think.

1 When you have an idea think of the five “W” WHO? WHAT? WHEN? WHERE? WHY? These questions will put you in the right direction.
2 While structuring your creativity you need the I’s that is Intention, Information, Incubation, Inspiration and Implementation. When you Structure Business think of the following I’s Integrity, Inspiration Integration, Innovation, and Impact.
3 Develop the process of Five L of life are Love, Laugh, Listen, Learn and Lead. When you manage think of Leadership, Loving, Listening, learning and lessening yourself.
4 Motivate yourself with five “D” desire, determination, drive, dedication, discipline. When you are in a leadership mode, think of do take action, do walk and Talk, Do listen, do persist against attack, and don’t loose your cloths.
5 Creativity needs Structure, Support, Self care, simplicity, and success. In the workplace , Use 5 s’ of workplace being Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke in English meaning Sort, Stabilize or Straighten things, Shine or scrub, Standardize, and Sustain .
6 Work with the five I’s

1 Imagery, including guided imagery and film script visualizing
2 Imagination, including storytelling;
3 Intuition, including the intuition probe, psychic intuition, and dreams
4 Insight, including grasping the gestalt, going for the aha!, Zen sketching
5 Inspiration, including the visitation of the muse, creativity rituals such as solitude, creating ideal conditions, and using background music
7 Think like a Baccha - of the beauty, of bitterness, of beast, birds, read books. In Management you use a set of different B’s being, be prepared, be polite, be prompt, be honest, and be quite.
8 F of Knowledge being Find it, Filter it, File it, Frame it, Focus it.
9 For media governance you need the five “F” that is Frankness, Friendly ness, Forthright, Factual and Fast for media is based on five human instincts, feeling, feeding ,fighting, fear, and fleeing. . We look for the five F’s Fortune, Fame, Family, Freedom and Fun
10 If you want to pitch a story remember the five P’s being
a. Point – You have to make a point
b. Purpose – You have to have a purpose
c. Perspective – Must have a perspective
d. Proof – You must have proof of data, description and information
e. People – People love to read about people

11 When you go for financing what the credit company wants to see. The five “C” Capacity, Capital, Collateral, Conditions and Character.

I had told you about the three steps of production being pre production, production and post production, to make a film there are two more steps being distribution/marketing and finance while you go into the market. Film makers think they are artist and are away from the clutches of the business world. But then artistic attitudes cannot get you money. Yes have an artist temperament the day you are big enough. So hence marketing is a skill you have to develop, marketing is like a film and the skills will allow you to make a film. Marketing is like producing a film, every step has to be considered.
Marketing skills will not decrease your freedom from creativity but will teach you creativity which will earn money for you. In our business making a good film is only half the battle, the other half belongs to publicity and marketing.

CORPORATE MAKETING

I believe that people love to learn through films. People who can communicate make films. What you have to sell nothing but yourself. In film your reputation is as good as your last film. Infact when ever I do a film I always know that’s my last film. So what you have to do you have to build your reputation, you need to get prizes and for this you have to be a learner. Think big and the small stuff will come to you.
Well a film has to be marketed, so what you need to know .. films are all about communication and hence communication is important. For this you must know what people want that is your distributors and on the other hand what audience wants. This brings a lot of insecurity as distributors, film maker and audience don’t think alike. So you have to use your creative talents for selling and that’s what marketing is. Marketing anything should start with a sensible look. You are not offering a film but then a talent which will communicate with people.
If you are into non theatrical film making business you need a sponsor. A promoter as film cost money. So your films have to be informative in the film and use your communication skills and knowledge to create, pass information and be a motivator. You have to have a good PR. You have to be conviencing.
Man spends money to make money and hence the basic rule of the thumb is solve the buyers problems. The corporate, universities, businesses, even hospitals, tourism, all have communication problems. So what you can be a trainer, a motivator, and can create a sense of responsibility in them so they can learn as a team. Teamwork is the biggest corporate problem infact it’s a common problem which all businesses face.
Infact as you will observe every company is a potential customer for you, so contact them. Use business directories, read papers, investigate and then target your film to the prospective client. Knowledge earned is invaluable maybe you will be spanked to death but then keep on developing, never rely on one idea. Read trade papers , see television you will know what the client needs.
To reach individuals in a company you have to first work through the corporate tree and pick the branch that you feel may need your film. To enter the company always go with a solution to their problem they would love you and maybe the film does not work but then who knows someone might give you another film and help you getting some work in communication.
The budgets will be low but then learn how to work with them … beg borrow and steal but make your film. Corporate have a cycle so pitch for work before and during the cycle. Your direction should be two ways one that you must get a film and even if you don’t get a film you should aim for the next year. Do your homework well.
Before going to the client learn his business philosophy and his physiology . You must know how they think, how they operate , what is their business like and how they make decisions. Most of the clients are bad decision makers, they are confused. We are the communication tool for them so use it well.

When you visit them you have to take control , tell them what you know of their business, never let them take the control. You have to give them ideas. Always write down and take with you a short paper on what you can do for them. Give a handout. Remember everyone can copy an idea but then you have the creative know how. Listen to the client too and his problems and if you have done your homework well you will have the solution. Always keep in mind your job is to solve a problem and not create a new one. Always take client into confidence and both of you have to agree on definite solution to the problem.
"What gives a company the results it's looking for? A film may be your end product, but it's not their end product . . . film is a medium you give them to help solve their internal or external communication problems."

So it boils down to

Find a potential job
Find who you have to convince
Do your homework well
Decide what you have to talk about
Make a presentation before the meeting write the proposal down

FILM MARKETING
Film marketing is all about audience – they are the GOD we have to please. So for this you have to know the Patten and the behavior of the audience who go to cinema houses and who will be your god. You have to know what the audience response to excluding sex. If you have a good film the release will be bigger you will catch more audience as it will be released in more cinema houses. The size of the film does not matter what matter are the contents.
The first stage of creativity and screenplay comes into focus here and that is what will be the target audience for your film. Is it a film for kids, or for college goers, or for women, all for men or is it for family, is it a film for intellectuals. Do you want to earn money or are you so big that money does not matter. One you have established the contents and your target audience what you do next.

Publicity yes publicity a visual for the audience a graphic image that people will response to. A catch line which the people will love and come to see the film. An association between the audience and the film has to be established. It could be through the internet, through posters, through television , though the press. Various media is used for this jobs… Posters, hoardings, six sheet poster, film festivals, radio ,trailers etc. These things give entertainment value and excites the viewer and they want to see the film.
Some films are hard to market some are easy. Movies at the end of the day are marketed by word of mouth and if the film is good you have won the marketing battle.

Always remember

Creativity is valued in terms of audience it fetches.
If you don't have a plan, it will stay in the can.
Audience gives you the pay packet at the end of the day.
A good film does not have any cast , creed or religion.
If you have a good film there are enough outlets.

Distribution is the first logical step to film making. Try selling the project when you conceive it. Make people interested. Don’t be a film maker who cannot communicate his proposal at the scripting level, at the launch level. Answer questions at the planning stage. If you feel at all uncomfortable with any of the distribution areas, get in touch with a film distributor who can answer your questions and handle your specific needs.
NON THERITICAL FILMS

Non theatrical films these are documentaries, videos, corporate films etc can be released in the following way.
Educational – School, Colleges , Universities
Special-interest groups – Clubs , NGO etc.
Television
Cable
Internet
The reality
Film making is like any other business. The creativity gives a lot of insecurities and hence a film maker should live in a real world and should know business and finance are also important. Creativity only goes well with food when it comes to shooting a film. But even for that food you have to earn money. Even as a businessman you can make a good film. There is a bridge which you have to build between your vision and the backers. How much your film will earn. So what you need for this A BUSINESS PLAN.
Business plans are made on speculations. The format and the style of making one will give you extra points, the research will get you the money. An investor in the show business is like a dog he can sniff and read between the lines. He would know your strength and weaknesses before you know them so there is no room for a lie. While making a business plan be clear, work with your concise, assure him of your sincerity and hard work. And you will win yourself the money you need.
DRAWING THE BUSINESS PLAN.
While drawing the business plans work on the following points.
Your crew
Your stars
Your synopsis and treatment, why you chose the subject.
Your script or a one liner.
Your Storyboard parts.

On the other hand also include the following
High Risk in the film making business.
Revenue projections (never compare revenues with other projects)
Letter of intent from distributors, crew, director and stars.

If you want to make a personal film then get yourself personal finance. Friends and family will give you the money and maybe you can sell your house to pay the people if you have a flop. You have to find an investor who has confidence in you and who is willing to back you.
A producer has responsibilities to the investor that is being that you will complete the film and you will make money for him.

In Life
1 You need five H’s to be a good Human Health, Head, Heart, Home and Humor.
2 Think Management, Men, Machine, Methods, material.
3 Remember the five basic rules of crises communication
i. One person serves as the spokesperson for your agency
ii. Provide only verified facts, not opinion or conjecture.
Iii .Don‘t place blame until you’re sure of the facts.
iv. Don’t say “no comment.
v. There’s no such thing as “off the record.

ONE NATION ONE THOUGH INDIA -POVERTY

Common Man is here there everywhere, sitting, eating and sleeping in fields and orchards, pathways and footpaths, river banks, road sides, every available piece of common land, living in collective commonality. Millions and millions homeless live in flood prone areas throughout the length and breath of the country.

People living in coastal regions of Orrisa, Andra, Tamil Nadu and on the edge of Brahmaputra, Ganga etc., routinely shift from low area to high area every time there is a storms and high tided, and over 200 million people comprising of the upper crest watch the spectacle on the television screen without emotions or feelings as if these miserable creatures belong to Timbuktu or another planet.

We not still proud of our Chana Chabena, Gangajal living, even as we approach the 21st century ?The tragedy of India is we are still stuck up at the level of social evolution, where food constitutes about three- forth of the sinews or pleasure of life. Independence Day is usually the occasion for looking back with resentment on the 200 years the British ruled over India.

One fine morning in early 1971, our government discovered a profound truth - that poverty was scouring the country which needed to be removed by a fireman. Significantly the profound discovery was made by the incumbent Prime Minister on the eve of the Parliamentary elections of 1971, and it was tanalising slogan coined 'Garibi Hatao'. No one knew what it meant but gullible as are the common man, he was swept off his feet. After living in dire poverty for ages, existing anyhow by filling our belly, we were going to get rid of it after all - no one knew or wanted to know how ?

They ransacked the entire literature of academic interest on poverty and dug out an old concept of a 'Poverty Line' developed by some economist in the early 20th century. Once a person reaches or crosses that level or line, he would no longer be counted as poor, even if he leads a sub-human life. What better mechanism could our economists evolve to 'remove' poverty on paper without touching the poor ? What better way our Prime Minister, Chief Minister and the entire political- bureaucratic establishment could have ro 'Garibi Hatao' without making any dent on the wretched conditions of our people.

They have put the label of modernity on their mock ;Garibi Hatao' program by quantifying the food requirements of the poor in terms of calories. The content and quantum of food consumption considered necessary to transfer the poor to the 'non poor' category have been defined in terms of caloric value. The litmus test been fixed at 2,400 calories per head in rural area and 2,100 calories in urban areas.

Vasant Sathe wrote in a government publication in January 1988 " As a matter of fact, poverty that is , absence of bare necessities of life which causes suffering is there for any honest man's naked eyes to see. You can see it all around, even in isolated urban island of affluence, if one were just peep into the slums and watch human beings live in gutters, watch their children trying to sort out the filth of the garbage...

Today we face Degrading Poverty, Debilitating Poverty, Humiliating poverty as we enter into 50 years of freedom. The poverty which forces our women to seek privacy before dawn or after dusk, the poverty one third of our population living on streets, the poverty which has left millions of children on the streets and the poverty which forces the poor in our land to scrounge dustbins for food. That is the epitaph of our life style.

Today instead of goals, we have slogans. Collected from super market and junk yard of ideas, 'Garibi Hatao' gave way to Congress Hatao, Desh Bachao, then came the Mandal Kamandal Shenanigans. By putting the official stamp on hunger as the sole constitute of poverty, we have firmly planted the agenda of perpetuating poverty in our nation's psyche, Viewed in this light , our fake 'Garibi Hatao' pyrotechnic is far worst than mere political chicanery or charlatanry.

650 million people subsisting on their stomach alone without any inspirations and visions of a more fulfilling living, have just no motivation to limit their numbers. The new bazaar of India of have more(s) and have not(s) consists of 250 million middle class for whom yester year luxuries have become today's necessities and of another 600 million where Coco Cola does not exist beyond the neon sign board and small screen which taunts the poverty of the other India. Today while the creamy layer of Indian society has entered the satellite era, the masses go to bed hungry by candle light. The state of the nation can be aptly characterized as an island of Muruti in an ocean of bullock carts.

Today 50 years later we have to answer charges of crimes against 300 million Indians who barely subsist We missed the industrial revolution, which lifted the west to unprecedented heights of material prosperity and were left behind by two centuries. If we miss the technological revolution sweeping across world today we will be doomed for ever. Obsolescence of industrial and agriculture technology can be remedied by updating it, but obsolescence of mind of a whole nation consigns in ingloriously to the dung-heap of history. We by this time had 15% of the world's population with 1.5% of world's income and we were still the 21st poor nation of the world.

Thousands of children work in agricultural field. Then there are carpet factories, Bangle factories, Lock factories, Matches, fireworks factories all of which employ children below 14. Child Labor is a growing menace that requires immediate attention. In 1971 there were about 10.7 million child laborers in India. This number has grown upto 17 million now. Many a times they have to work in cramped, with insufficient ventilation. Small kids of 7 ‑ 8 year old are made to work for nearly 16 hours which leads to aliments like severe backache, bronchitis, T.B. etc. The parent stuck by poverty, cannot manage 2 meals for their children, cannot afford to think about the future of their children.

CORRUPTION & CRIME - JUSTICE

You will say Why we talk about Corruption and then of Crime and then Justice. These factors are complimentary to each other, Corruption gives birth to Crime and Crime to Justice. Lets see how in India corruption started, which is an offense against Society at Large. No problem is easy to solve in India.

Corruption - was what we inherited from the British’s when we became a free Nation. With due courtesy to them, it was not as bad as it is now. Even Corruption had moral values. The level of corruption was confirmed to lower levels of administration - to the side of Tahsildar on the civil side and Sub Inspector in the Police, who used to be fed with Chickens, Wine and Women. If somebody alleged that the collector or supreridentant of police was corrupt, he would not be believed. The only irregularities used to be misappropriation of Secret Service funds to the tune of Rs 100 or so every month.

Since then corruption is an area in which our country has achieved tremendous progress - an area in which we are keeping growth with the increase of population. Today it is institutionalized. The Ministers and Officers who are honest can be counted on finger tips. It is estimated that Rs 10,000 Crores a year on account of corruption in Government and Public Undertakings is taking place. Today Corruption has become the mainstay in both Indian Politics ands inter-elite imbalances. Most Politicians can not make an honest living. Recently political bribery too has become a necessity. The fist instance which has come in is that of Laloo Parsad Yadav giving Jarkhand land in order to avoid downfall of his government.

The functioning of any economic system depends upon the balance between the business, the politicians and the bureaucratic elite’s. The striking feature of Nehru's economic policy was not that it was better than that of Rajiv Gandhi or Indira Gandhi etc., but he succeeding in creating a balance between the business, the political and the bureaucratic elite’s under his supervision. Indira Gandhi created an imbalance between the three. Nehru's India gave birth to Industry and in order to safeguard the Environmental Pollution, to look after the common man, departments were made for Safty, for quality, for pollution levels and for other inspections. No less than13 inspectors could close down you factory. This gave birth to Industrialists giving pay off to the inspectors. L.K. Jha a vented economic adviser to the government since the 60's admitted that the system has swooned corruption, but argued that there was no alternative to control in an economy with serious shortages. The Neta's and the Babus manipulated the complicated socialist controls set by Nehru to their advantages and to the advantages of their clients; contractors, traders, businessman and largely farmers. This happened as Independent India did not destroy the old elite left behind by the British.

The seeds of present day corruption in India were laid in Nehru's time when he defended Krishana Menon in the Jeep Scandal and when he refused to take action against Partab Singh Kairon, Biju Patnaik, Basheer Gulam Mohamed and others when charges against them were proved beyond doubt.

When Mrs. Gandhi came into power in 1966, she did not reveal any particular preference for money as an inevitable instrument in maintaining political power, but somewhere in 1968 her advisors that political parties need money to survive, thus started the game of funds collections. It is amazing how the Communist joined this game believing that corruption at the top would bring about the revolution at the bottom. While interviewing Mr. S. Niglingappa he said “ The biggest mistake which I did for this nation was to make Mrs. Gandhi the Prime Minister of India”. Though his tears were genuine at this age but a lot of damage was done to this country as our social and political system became more corrupt.

In the urban milieu from the early 1970's it was vaguely known that government contract - and government price fixing could be swung, and money changed hands to ensure a particular decision. Petty and not so petty officers as much as ministers were demanding and receiving payments, but it was not considered a generalized formula.

With this started the criminalization in politics - Thank you Mr. Antulay for this ?

Mid 1980 changed the concept of corruption. It became an open society and there was an open acknowledgment of payments being made in connections with defense deals. Every aspect of public life began to reek of corruption. From Court Judgments to University degrees everything had a price to pay. And at 50 we still are progressing.

History of Scandals

Serajudin Affair in which K.D. Malviya was charged in major involvement in 1956, thereafter in 1958 Feroze Gandhi exposed the Mundhara Group scam in which bogus shares were sold to LIC, in 1964 Partab Singh Kairon was charged with amassing wealth for his family while in office, In 1971 for the first time a Prime Minister was involved in the Nargarwala Episode in which Rs 60 lacs were frauded from a bank. By 1981 there was a HWD Submarian deal in which Rs 100 crores was received as Payoff . In 1982 Justice Rele found A.R. Antulay guilty of allotting of cement. 1983 Churhat lotteries scandal took place in which Arjun Singh was involved. Thereafter Fairfax, Bofors, Airbus Deal, Harshad Mehta Scam, Classik Computer deal, JMM payoff, fodder scandal, in all more than 50 cases have come to light in which large Payoffs and money has been used by politicians to promote political aims, not to talk of the 80% of the financial aid being eaten away before it reaches the Common Man.

It is not realized that though the collection of about Rs 100 crores a year by politicians, the government is obliged to allow and defend the generating of Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 crores of black money. It is this dangerous ratio that makes India's corruption unique.

There is a generalized relationship between corruption, black money and parallel economy on one hand and price level on the other. Today corruption is so unbolt that even the common man is suffering beyond doubt. A Ration Card whose application is 50 paisa, he is made to pay Rs 200 to Rs 400 to avoid some irksome procedure.

Most of the Burerecrates have sons, daughter and other close family members settled abroad. The idea is to us them to receive payments for work done in India.
The Common Man is neither concerned with the intricacies, complexities and the nuances of law, nor is he interest to know why a criminal can not be punished. A criminal who cannot be punished and moves freely in society which sees him as a criminal is a greater menace than a hundred ordinary criminals languishing in Jails if only for want of material and muscle power. The unethical practice of some members of the Bar too are not prevalent in India. Metropolitan detectives can identify lawyers in criminal practices who are more harmful to the society than the client they represent. If the common Man's confidence in the legal system has to be restored a major surgical operation of the procedural law and evidence act is unavoidable.

Reservation

20 million tax payers run a country consisting of a billion people. Every one has a reservation , you go to a Christian, Muslim, Sindhi, run school or college they have reservation for their community. Government Colleges have reservation for Government employees…. SC/ST Tribal, Armed Forces all have reservation, even politicians have reservation in schools in their area, but then when it comes to a poor tax payer he does not have a reservation. Strangely this tax payer also produces spoil brats who don’t get enough numbers to get admission.

A very strange instrument of identity has been given to a tax payer called Permanent Account Number. With this new identity his Ration Card has been withdrawn . He does not need ration anymore he is self sufficient but then see the poor people in this land who live they need ration more than him. Fair Enough !!!

Electricity , OH Electricity is another area where there is a great amount of discrimination. He has to pay more for the usage of electricity too. Take the example of a city like Bombay. The city 80% of tax payers which is the service class stay in Suburbs, that is beyond Bandra and Sion. In these area they have to pay more for electricity, Why ? For he is an honest taxpayer ! not to talk of the high rate of property tax he has to pay.

He pay’s more the facilities are less. The roads are in Bad shape. It stinks and the jungle is more concrete here than in the area of Politicians.

Tax payer is taxed at every source… he makes more calls and pay more , he eats better food and he pays more, he sleeps less and he pays more for even more for his medication, but then he does not have any reservation anywhere. With his money the government, insurance companies, television, politicians, Bureaucracy every thing run but then he is ruled by the red tapes. See how lucky he is.

The answer is - The tax payer is the biggest available crook and he deserves to be punished. Strangely only 20 million pay taxes and we have more than 40 million cars. Sometime back in Parliament our Hon’ble Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpyee and made an observation on 23rd March 1992 about the cars, he said “ In 1990-91 five thousand people have declared an income above Rs. 5 lakhs but Tata’s have produced a new car, which is priced at Rs. 5 lakhs and 6000 people have registered their names as buyers and paid an advance of Rs. 25,000. Now I cannot understand this situation.” The situation is no better during his times as a Prime Minister. Today a car cost not less then Rs.3 lakhs in average and we have at least 40 million cars. Who is the owner of the 20 million cars. Is it the rich farmer who is not suppose to pay any taxes or is it the Political bosses. Could it be the Mafia which rules the Nation today

The tax payer goes to court he pays for the lawyer. But then he does not get instant justice. It takes long for him to get justice. Justice is denied to him. He is known economic offender.

Who is responsible for this? Is it the bureaucracy which even after Twenty Five years of Independence used to refer the Indian Independence as a political and constitutional change of or is it the Politician ? Who for power saw it that every sect of society has a reservation and brewed Mafia so that he may have his vote bank intact, in return he gave political asylum to the Mafia. No the responsibility lies with the tax payer himself for he pays tax and tries to support his country. Today to buy a tax officer the start up fee is just 5000/-, an electricity officer is available from Rs. 500/- onwards. A Politician is available for a contribution to a political party. If this was not true how could a man make properties in millions and just pay a nominal amount in tax ? How could he use air-conditions and still pay minor electricity bills. If you want to check how electricity is stolen by politicians go visit Tara Appartment in New Delhi where all the politicians and ex member of Parliament stay and have direct connections.

In the age of the computers If the government has a will they can easily check who the honest taxpayer is. It’s high time when the government ask the whole nation to declare their assets, property, cars, gold etc and also ask everyone maybe he is a tax payer or not to declare the source of income and the amount of taxes they have paid to the government. With this they can plot the properties of the people of this nation and the undeclared property can come into the government hold. This could be a confidential information. But then will the government arrest the Mafia and be honest.
We are living in a society and we have a moral obligation to pay he tax.. So before we buy our next car we should make it a point to pay the dues of the society so that the society may grow and lets stop bribing our way through the system. Bribing has not made the system efficient. If by bribing the system would have worked the Prime Minister would not have stood in a cage and given his Independence speech. See how independent are we! But then even the government should do something and give some reservation for the honest tax payer !!

TERRIORISM

Terrorism is supposed to have been started by the assassin ( derived from Hashish) in the 11th century in West Asia. They laid down two conditions - the oath of secrecy and the propaganda connected with crime. To this date both are fulfilled. The period of 1960-80 saw it at its peak, with more than 87 hijacking of aircraft in one year the year being 1969.

In India, three Gandhi's have been politically assassinated - Gandhi, by a so called Hindu Frantic, Indira Gandhi by Sikh Militants and Rajiv Gandhi by LTTE's Militants. Beside the three Gandhi's, men and women politicians of lesser stature have been killed murdered, brutally assassinated for a variety of reasons. We are in the grip of a movement called Terrorism.

Actually, sabotage and terrorism has been with us from almost the first month of Independence. Frst, there were attempts to create communal trouble by Pakistan in Jammu & Kashmir, then came the clap of thunder in Nagaland.

When Pakistan was defeated in Eastern Sector ( 1971 war with pakistan, Bangladesh made) , Pakistan turned to Punjab. Sophisticated weapons poured into the state and a rage of terror was unleashed with bank robbery, killing of innocent people etc. Perhaps we were indulgent to Pakistan when we took no step to stop them. As a consequence they turned to Kashmir, and once again used the same tactics of training and intruding with powerful weapons followed.

In the last fifty years and specially in the 80's and early 90's one could feel terrorism at its height in India. Not only we had a glimpse of this in Punjab, Assam, & Kashmir but even in South and West of India, Bombay bomb blast and Rajiv Gandhi Assassination and all of us have felt the ribbles of it.

Movements like Khilastan Liberation Front, United Liberation Front of Assam, Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam, have been operating in India. Suprisingly all these movements of terrorism have been made under the shadow of Liberation for instance, those who are fighting for a Khalistan or for an Independent Kashmir call their activity a liberation struggle against domination by India. Mostly these groups have supporters abroad. The early 80's were a period of sustained terrioristic violence in Assam, Terrorism in Punjab flourished when our borders were porus and as the state took steps to reduce the porosity of the border, the security forces were able to come to grips with terrorists. Here a linkage between the narcotics trade and Pakistan ISI has been established.

Terrorism in India can be attributed to three factors, one being the two wars between the these countries and second being Money poured in openly in politics after the congress split of 1969, resulting in the development of drug trade and underworld with full fledged Mafia with their own dons and godfathers. Atleast 4% of the elected representatives in India today are estimated to be connected or involved with crime and criminals and this is only the tip of the iceberg, thirdly according to CIA Pakistan Military intelligence used nicotic profits to fund separatist movements in India, this includes a Punjab Assembly member Chaudhary Shaukat Ali Bhatti associated with this movement.

The degree of vulnerability of a nation to terrorism is largely dependent on the political health of a Nation. Anti terrorist operations are hampered by organized criminal activities going under the protection of politicians. Terrorism becomes easy in society where the law enforcement machinery has already been subverted and made ineffectual, as the law enforcement looks away having obtained their share of the spoil.

When we talk of terrorism it is important that we talk about Pakistan as this is the country which is waging a proxy war in Punjab & Kashmir, though this war has not been successful, as yet.

This brings us to another point and that is the framework of Islamic political ideology which has come up against serious contradictions. Pakistan has become the battle field of religion, sectarian and ethnic conflicts. This proxy war while inflicting painful wounds on Indian state and polity has not succeeded.

1984 Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her own Sikh security guards. The fault - sending of army into the Golden Temple which is in Amritsar - Punjab, in order to combact Terrorism or Militancy. She had said " Every drop of my blood, I am sure, will contribute to the growth of this Nation and make it strong"

The very Punjab which was the most effected area during Partition between India and Pakistan, the wheat bowl of India, the very Punjab which has Sikh population in it. The very religion which was born as an offshoot of Hinduism, and as a militant wing of it. The Hindu saints have been held in honor by the Sikhs Gurus and Grant Sahib are equally venerated by the Hindus. There is no big difference between the bhajans of Hindus and Gurbani Kirtan. Which Hindu's soul is not uplifted on hearing the beautiful song of Golden Temple. It may be observed here in Independent India, Sikhs have made a notable contribution to National Life and its progress. The Sikhs have held eminent position in Independent India - in public life and services and entrepreneurial activities, some of them being Man Mohan Singh, Baldev Singh, Swaran Singh, Surjit Singh, Hukam Singh, Jagjit Singh Arora, G.S. Dhillon, Air Marshal Arjun Singh, Air Marshal Dilbagh Singh, Giani Zail Singh and many other names come to my mind in all fields of development. Then why terrorism .

Layman fails to understand when both these religions have suffered persecution at the hand of the Muslim including tortures and martyrdom of some of the Gurus. Sikhs have been the stanched advocates of Akhand Hindustan or United India, at the time of partition. Three of the beloved Panj Piyares are Hindus of Low Cast. Then How come terriorism.

Sardar Partab Singh Kairon, one of the makers of Punjab, was a devoted Sikh, but he was also a staunch secularist and there was no contradiction or conflict between him and Nehru. Hindu's and Sikhs lived in peace but some differences did existed as is inevitable between any two communities. These differences were exploited by external stimulus. Kairon never mixed Religion with Politics. Kairon knew that Hindu's and Sikhs are complimentary to each other and he managed to keep Punjab united.

History Punjab: The demand for a separate state for the Sikhs, at first was put forward by Anandpur Sahib Resolution of 1973, which also gave rise to fundamentalism among this community. Although Sikhs have been in the mainstream of Indian life and have lived with the Hindu's brethren in peace and amity for five centuries and had been in the forefront in the defense of Hinduism as well of the country, a separatism developed in early 70's, followed for a demand for Khalistan by the extremist section in them. However this concept of Khalistan had been imported rather than being an indigenous one.

Anandpur Sahib resolution of 1973 demanded for a complete autonomy for the Sikhs in a separate state of own, only Defense, External Affairs and Communication being left to the center. For the next four years there were some agitation’s over the issue, but for the three year, 1977-1980 though the Akali Dal was in power the demand lay dormant. The agitation again began in 1980 and started taking a different and an alarming turn. While the congress party too has been guilty as the government acted ineptly, the opposition fanned the flames without realizing the shortsightedness and the danger involved.

1970's saw the emerging of Jarnail Singh Bhindrawala, Baisakhi day April 13, 1978 saw the beginning of conflict in the community of Sikhs and a war was declared on the Nirankaries in which 13 people died and by 1980 Baba Gurbachan Singhji a Nirankari Guru was shot dead in 1979. Bhindrawala with each killing was able to consolidate his position and he was able to make his extremist group attached to the All India Sikh Student Federation. The aim - to make a Sikh state called Khalistan , Purpose - Not Known , Interference - Foreign Money, Financier - Jagjit Singh Chauhan. With this a decade between 1982-92 saw a blood smearing across the pages of modern Indian History which claimed more than 25,000 lives. Terrorism had come to stay.

The hit list expanded from Nirankari to Congress Leaders, dissident Akali Leaders, Killing people from the press, killing the Common Man, Hijacking Aircraft’s , bombing known targets etc. Suspecting that the situation will go worst the Government carried out Operation Blue Star on 6th June 1984 to flush out terrorist from the Golden Temple. Executed by the army the operation left some 1000 terrorist and some 200 soldiers dead. This operation left an after effect in the mind of the people as Akal Takht was damaged a little and there was a revolt by the Sikh's in the Indian Army, censorship imposed and Mrs. Gandhi Assassinated by her own Sikh Bodyguard. This resulted in mass killing and resentment against the Sikh's and more than 2000 Sikhs were killed in a riot instigated by Congress.

Bhindranwala who himself was killed used to address a darbar inside Golden Temple where people from all over Punjab came with their grievances. TV Crews and media used to attend these darbar's and here he used to be the judge. His speeches used to contain remarks which were against the law of the land, his photographs were sold like film posters are sold, and once said a lone Sikh can fight 35 Hindu's.

The golden temple was used to spread poison of hatrate between communities which came from the same roots. In 1947 Baisakhi day the Sikh shouted death to Pakistan and this is the reason why the Sikhs became target of Muslim rioters in West Punjab.

Terrorism between 1979-84 was different from that of 1984-91 span, the main characters too were doggy. Bhindranwala for instance was no match to the heroic Maqbool Haque. Infact Bhindrawals as per Dr. Sohan Singh was opposed to Khalistan ideology. According to a study conducted by Paramjit Singh Judge and two of his colleagues of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar discovered that 250 out of 300 terrorists were Jat Sikhs, thus confirming an old suspicion that that Punjab terrorism has been Jat Sikh led. 70% of these were between the age of 15-19 yrs, some touching 20's. . 20% were between 21-30 and 10% below 50's . Only one extremist Gura Singh was over 50 yrs of age. Out of these 65% were illiterates, 35% school drop outs , did not even manage to reach matric. Only one Dharamvir was a Law Graduate and Manochal a student leader. The majority of these terrorist did not have more than 5 acres of land. These terrorist became unpopular due to rapes.

After the 7th lok Sabha elections Mrs. Gandhi came in power, and restarted the personal civil honors, giving the first one to Mother Theresa. Sanjay Gandhi, Mrs. Gandhi son and inherent to the thrown died . The 6th five year plan launched. Mrs. Gandhi gives a new slogan to India Shrama Eva Jayate - it is the toil that win's, television goes color, Zail Singh became the 7th president of India, loosing Vinoba Bhva, Sheikh Abdulla, launching Satellites, Asian Games, having the worst disasters like those of trains and planes we came to another disaster - the death of Indira Gandhi by her own security force.

Finding Commitment! Are we a State.....

50 years ago at this time the Indian Constitution was being worked out by our thinkers. The intention of these thinkers was pure or was it framed with resentments. But still our thinkers wanted to develop India into a country with past culture and present circumstances. Looking back today I think of the famous lines of Rabindranath Tagore "Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high". I think of the past and go into the history of the post independence era and try to feel how far we have been able to make India into a state.

What people think about this vast document know as Constitution. to find. A few years ago I went to People with this question, and found that even today our cultural elite are not educated. I went to find that in these fifty years how far our constitution has been upheld. I went to them to find out if they really know what constitution is.

It was as early as 1997, a day came in my life when I found out that me too was a cultural elite. I thought that the quality of education and national patriotism is the same among the people of this land. I knew they were ignorant but did not know they were that ignorant. The educated people of my land did not know what the Indian Constitution is all about, though they knew about their rights and they never knew about their obligations. Rights without obligation is this what our education system teaches the students of this land?

I asked them across the land about the meaning of the word Constitution and discovered they never knew the meaning . Some said it was a book read by politicians, some said its a book read in the parliament, some were shy to answer this. Some said it was a religion and some said it is not their subject to know. These are the leaders of the next millennium. This is our society. I wonder about we the people ........

Well looking at this I felt that of course the Indian constitution was a complex and cumbersome document which no one could understand. Therefor even the educators of this land and the makers of text book and educationalist thought why burden the people with this documents. Why should they know about this land?

I see a version of Katulia Arath Shasta and then I see a book with the feeling of the Great Mahatma , he was right when he said that this democracy is going to become a mobocracy. To add further he did not think that this democracy is going to become corruptcracy too.

I wonder did the State exist in these last fifty years for the prime responsibility of the state is to see that the citizens are leading the highest life which he is capable of and he knows about his duties and responsibility towards the Country. He has to have a feeling about being an Indian. But in this last fifty years we have made this Nation into land of sick's, sick people, sick educational system, sick bureaucracy and sick politicians. All the Bureaucrats have made their children dependent on other Nations, which are Nations. In India we are left with people who only care about them selves. The virus of corruption has killed us all. We don't stand for our past culture and we don't stand for our past values. We live on borrowed International concepts.

So here are some concepts given by International Thinkers to make us think. These are the basic principles on which a State is based.

Lets start with the Greek. For Greek the State was a supreme fact of life and the effort and actions of the Individuals which had to flow into it just like the river flows into the sea. When in our Land we fight over water how can the river flow into the sea I ask.

The Athenians though that the civilization was the highest glory, it meant the theory of the city was at once ethics, sociology, and economic, as well as politics. They thought of harmony of life. In our land we failed the heavy book called Constitution. We only have politics, we have lost all ethics, we follow the sociology of being corrupt, our economic condition is in doldrums. We don't care for the people and Politics the less said the better.

Plato regarded the state as a universe in which the individual could finds its proper place and perform the duties for which he is befitted. I can see jobs being given to incompetent people. To get a Job with the state is to get a blessing. One does not have to work for the people but one has to work for himself. His family. Give money and get the Job done, the is the motto of Bureaucracy. Jobs are given not to the competent but to the people who bribe, or come under oppressed class or have a recommendation. I see unemployment everywhere.

Aristotle believed that the purpose of State was mainly ethical, it was a community of equals aiming at best life possible. Equals ? Party Politics! Power Politics ! Communism ! Dalits ! Brahmins ! Baniyas ! we are but Indian's aha the Constitution does not provide for. Do we have Proud Indians left ? or are we divided for the Constitution wants to know my religion. I have a spot of Religion in every institute but if I write I am an Indian they don't admit me. Did constitution divide the people so that the State may not function I wonder or was it the Bureaucrats and Politicians divided us.

In the middle age the priestly writers regarded the State as an instrument in the hands of God. I don't see a god as everyone is fighting over him. The State is today an instrument in the name of Politics.

According to Hobbes the purpose of the state was to maintain and protect the right to property. I look at the India's Judiciary to find that Justice is being denied to people. Infact Justice is on Holiday. The bureaucracy still feel that Judicial Activism is fake. I see the Politicians moving with Black Cats and the Prime Minister addressing the people of is State from a Cage. The property is being protected by Goondas. Ranbir Sena , MNC is our protectors. The Police depends on underworld.

What was the end of good governance. According to Locke the end of Government was the preservation of lives, liberty and estate. Well the end of politics today to protect Jaylalitha, Laloo and Sonia. Again how can my estate be protected when I am ruled by Corrupt Political Leaders who are shameless.

Rousseau regarded the State as a Social Contract to fulfill the general will. Voters don't have a will... Citizens have only Bills and Politicians have the General will. Social Contract is only before elections so that the Politicians may get Rs 2.00 crores a year to look after the people of their constituency out of which atleast 80% is eaten away.

Hegel said that the State was a great reality. Today the State is the biggest liability in the hand of the citizens in India. Its no more a gods world but a corrupt world.

Herbert Spencer thought it was a Joint Stock protection company. Today the Indian State is the biggest Joint Stock Liability, with all the Public Companies becoming a liability.

Indian thoughts are contained in Ramayana and Mahabharata, the Manusmriti, Kautilya's Artha-Shastra and Shukracharya's Nitisara.

The Ramayana describes the kingdom of Ram in which people were happy and prosperous. Here the people are sad and unhappy. Everyone is crying, no one is happy. Frustration has taken over people and still they smile and do the work. The level of tolerance is great among the people of this land I must admit.

In Mahabharata Bhishma tells us about the duties of a kingdom, and rightly so the end being that the State being a protector of the citizens so that they may lead a happy, righteous and harmonious life, following their respective Dharma or duties. In this last fifty years we have failed to establish the basic Dharma and that is we are Indians. We have a policy of blaming each other, we have not kept our house in order, we the cultural elite's are no good citizens.

Kautilya emphasizes the same, He says in the happiness of the people lie the happiness of the state. How can we all be happy when there is corruption all around. How can we be happy when the bureaucracy has led us down, and how can we be happy when the political system does not exist. The King maybe good but his hands are all tied down by the dirty politics.

In Shukraniti, the King is the Prime protector of the subject, he has to discipline the lives of the citizens so that each follow his Dharma. Every Bureaucrat is a small king, every citizen is a contributor, every politician is a king, but then they are the uneducated Kings who think of their welfare.

As per the constitution we all have moral obligations as citizens which we have ignored. We know our rights but not our obligations. We know ourselves and not our duties.

In Sparta Man lived for the sake of State, in Athens State lived for the sake of Man but in India the Man lives for his own and the State does not exist all. This is what the great makers of constitution had though off one feels.

We the people of India .................

Yes these are the very first line of the Constitution Preamble. I keep in one hand our humble constitution the original law of this land on the other hand I keep the thoughts of Gandhiji for free India. In my mind I think of my Country.

India's roots lie in the Villages. The village Rural communities are the must important think in life of any country. This is what Panchayat Raj all about. This is an old system which is followed worldwide. Pick up Artha Shastra, Manu-smriti, Shanti-Parva, pick up Ramayana l have references to this. Visitors like Hieu Tsang and Fa Hein, tell us how this system was prosperous in India and how happy were the people of this land. Gandhiji was in favor of the Panchayat Raj, infact he unlike Nehru knew that the life of India lies in the villages and if cottage industry is not developed, India could not develop. The System of Panchayat Raj was killed during the times of British's and when freedom came this system died a hole death. Wise Politicians thought that the villages should also be divided , they wanted villages of dalits, villages of Muslim, villages of Parse's, villages of tribes etc. The system which flourished under the numerous people who ruled in this land was killed by its own people. Why because the East India company and the British Empire were not found of it and so were out thinkers. They Promised Gandhi, and Gandhi also knew that they will not bring this system. A Dishonest Political System was at work.

The village communities which were the little republics, were self sufficient. This system were elected by the households of the village and were responsible to the people of the village. Unlike the officers who were appointed by the State to replace the village republics, who are only responsible to the State and the Government and of-course to the political parties for promotions and favors. The officers are not to satisfy the elector's. Bara Sahib after all...

Constitution took away the power of the people and gave the same in the hand of the cultural elite. It was no more the responsibility of these small republicans to look after them. They would be looked after by the State. After all it was the responsibility of the state to see that its people were happy. People believed in the state and its officers who were there to help them, but then little did the innocent people realize that these people could be bought by a handful for their own gain and this is what happened.

The State sent things for it's people but then the things did not reach the people. The Schools became institutions without teachers, the Gurukul died, the night schools for Adults did not function, the Akhada became non existence, the festival were no longer celebrated. All the money which was meant for the benefits of the citizens were spend in promoting lectures by Politicians or for their benefits.

The right training was not given to the people and they were made dependent on the State and its officers. Police was replaced to catch the thieves. Satyagrah became a word of the past. Even were the irrigation was concern the State sent its officers who did not help the villagers. The villagers became more in depth and started coming to the towns and cities in search of Jobs. The concept of Rural Industries were killed by the concept of large public companies which were near the towns and cities. Co-operative marketing was taken away by another State Machinery which again became a disaster. No Sanitation or Medical relief was taken care of. Water became the think of the past. Till date the state has not been able to provide safe drinking water to million of its people, left alone food and clothing. Politicians are responsible for this people say, but the truth is we all as citizens of India are responsible. Its better t kill a corrupt politician then to kill a cow or a female child.

Village India could no more take its decision and for Justice the people of the Land had to go to the towns and cities as the Justice System was established there. The only thing Village India did was pay taxes so that these officers could be paid. Taluka or District bodies what these were known as did not act as advisors but they acted as this body was meant to see that the foundation of the Village India becomes week. This is the first tragedy of Free India and the Constitution adopted by it or was it a comedy of error.

Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democracy !

I being a cultural elite has never understood the meaning of these words. In school I heard of this but then there was no explanation. In college I heard them but I was always confused. Even today to be honest I am confused. Can anyone tell me the meaning of these words. There would be different explanation, some will say something and some will say something. These words are for political gains.. this is what I have understood in these years. Is the meaning of these words as per dictionary. If I who is called literate cannot understand the meaning of these word how can a Common Man! A Villager, I ask myself. Every time I see our representatives in Lok Sabha uttering these words I am more confused. If I don't know the meaning of these words, should I be a voter, I ask myself.

Does the word Sovereign means that the people of India will be "ruler", "Potentate", "Emperor", "Lord", "Monarch", "King", "Majesty", "autocrat", or does it mean that they shall have a "government", "Law", "authority", or "statute". 50 years of misruling has not been able to find a solution to peoples problem, who is the authority them. We or the Rulers! How can we be a Sovereign Republic when we do not respect our National Flag, When we do not respect our National Anthem and when we do not respect out fellow citizen's. We the Indian's led beside Sovereign, we don't even deserve to be called an Indian. Scratch your heart and you will find no one knows the meaning of these tall words. If we are a Sovereign Republic we have failed the Constitution, and we should all be ashamed of it. Our Schoolbook though teach us these words but they don't give us the meaning of this word. How can we ask for our fundamental rights when we don't know about our duties. When we don't know what is our responsibilities. I Listen to the great Parliamentarians an how they argue on matter of National Security and Interest. This makes me feel that well no one cares for National Interest any longer. Why so ! Because our own interest come before the National Interest. The first duty of the people is to be faithful to the country in the times, but no one is faithful to the country. How can we be a Sovereign when public morality is at low, when people have lost freedom, when we are still not equal before law.

Sovereignty is at last is a term of art rather than a legal expression capable of a precise definition.

Socialist ! Another word ... What is a Socialist, who is a socialist ? This word has not again been described. The first fundamental bases of the word Socialist is that the income of man must be in a ration. In India where the poverty line is Rs. 2,400/- the maximum income of the richest should be Rs. 24,000/- per year. This means no one will pay taxes. Lets remove the poverty line and come to a real picture say 2,40,000/- a year. Which again sounds illogical. So in this 50 years are we a Secular State ... No. Who is responsible. Of-course the people. How could people become socialist when they are not taught the meaning of word Socialist. How can we be socialist when we are not promoting welfare of the people, when we are not resisting exploitation of man by man, when we have no protection, when we are made to work more than 8 hr. a day, when child abuse, rapes, child labor, still exists. Is that fair to us. How can we be a Socialist when till date we have not been able to provide basic education to our People.

If India is a socialist state the principle of eliminate inequality in income and status and standard of living has not been achieved, till date so how are we a socialist state. This word was added in the preamble in 1976 and its over 20 years and we are still far from achieving our goal.

Secular ....... This is the best word I even came in my life. Secular. This is an important word. The whole Indian Politics is based on this word. We follow secularism, but which part of secularism. Is it Gandhi's secularism, or Nehru's. For Nehru Secularism meant, first, separation of religion from political, social, economic, and cultural aspects of life, religion being treated as a purely personal matter, second, dissociation of the state from religion; third, full freedom to all religions and tolerance of all religion; and, four, equal opportunities for followers of all religions, and no discrimination and partiality on grounds of religion. And, of course, in the Indian context, secularism meant, above all, firm opposition to communalism. Interestingly, over time, Nehru began to see secularism not only as a gift of the freedom struggle but also as a heritage of India's ancient and medieval past. To some, "secularism" meant that each person was free to follow whatever religion he wanted. To others, secularism was itself a creed. It was a way in which modern Indians could be persuaded to give up some of their religious foibles and become "secular" modern citizens of a modern India. The "secular" modern Indian could choose his god and the manner in which he prayed to him, but must be willing to adapt his social system so as to permit some modernity to replace some of India's traditional social structure in order to achieve the aims of a modern socialist society. The "secular" aims were thus a social commitment of the socialist program. But these "secular" plans had a very deeply disturbing political aspect. Many of India's millions of Muslims saw this secular program as a planned attempt to make inroads into the Muslims social structure and persuade the Muslims to give up many of their customs. The focal point of the controversy was the demand for a uniform civil code an object enshrined as one of the Directive Principles of State Policy which would virtually abolish the personal law of the Muslims.

Is secularism linked with Hindu's or is it also linked with people of other faith. Is secularism meant to remove cast system or is it there to make cast system into vote banks. I feel that the politicians should be asked to talk about the Country and its people only and not about the various faith when they go to seek vote. They will not get votes at all. Religion should be kept away from politics. Every Politician when he goes to seek vote he should be baptized by priest of all the religion. Lets see what happens. Non secular people will leave politics and maybe then India will be a secular nation.

Speaking of Secularism ... no political party who say they are secular have been secular. Congress which is the largest Political party during it's rule has encouraged communalism, be it in 1971 when it gave instructions against the very fabric of Indian. Be it in 1975 at Turkaman Gate, be it Main 1984 after the assassination of Mrs. Gandhi, and very recently in the states ruled buy its Governments in Madhya Pardesh and in Orrisa were involved in unethical politics.

Dr. Ambedkar who invented this word said by secularism it means that the parliament shall not be competent to impose any particular religion upon the rest of the people, but what about the parliamentarians will they be allowed ?

Even after 45 years of Congress rule we have not given our people equal rights to use of wells, tanks, roads, schools and places of public resorts maintained by the State and local bodies. Instead of removing un-touchbility, instead of building houses for the people together, harrijans enclaves, street for harijjan's, hostel for harrijan's, temple for harrijan's these things are gaining momentum. Politicians talk of Bhaujan Samaj, they talk of Harrijans, they talk of Muslims rights, they talk of state's but then they don't talk of India.

This makes us come to the last word Democracy. We are a Democracy, a democracy which should be ashamed of it self a democracy which is there but is not there. Does democracy mean that the Judiciary has to interfere in every rightful decision or does democracy mean make people uneducated, draw money from the state but work for private organization, be unethical in your dealings, generate a parallel economy. Where is Democracy today and where is our National Pride?

Will India be able to Indianize Indian's, will be a democracy or a corruptocracy . Shall we be able to educate people, provide them with food, have Akhara's for them, celebrate the important festivals together, encourage folk art among them, protect them, develop khadi industry, give them sanitation and medical help and atlast give them healthy drinking water. I ask these questions to myself and have no answer to them.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://yatiji.blogspot.com/2006/02/finding-commitment-are-we-state.html' title='Finding Commitment! I am an Indian first and an Indian last. My concern about India is as a citizen who wants to keep the moral and ethical values intact and also see the old and the new changes. I am no writer and these thoughts are what I have read about and what I have understood beinbg an Indian. In general I am trying to see what I have seen and write what has already been written. You are free to copy this article and call it your own if you feel thats honesty. Honestry is what I belive in. My blog will keep on changeing as and when I remember something. He wrote:

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee Into ever-widening thought and actionInto that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake

Yes we woke up and since then are leading our country. India 15th August 1947 was a great day and 26th January was a day when we got our constitution. Since then we are trying to find a vision. It's not that india and Indian's did not have a vision. Yes we are a politically motivated country but then some of our leaders had a vision.

On Vision I start with Gandhi - Mahatma Gandhi the father of the Nation told Nehru to see that the villages are developed. But then Nehru had a dream of Industrilazation. He thought development means big PSU but did not realize that the growth of these big dreams would be destroyed with its own foolish people working in the Government. He did not realised that his education policy to educate the youth of this country will be snatched away by his own babus. He did not realised that corruption will seek into the bureocracy by making laws for Industries. Twenty Nine laws and departments controlled the Industry.

His vision was followed by Lal Bahadur Shastri who ruled for 18 months. Jai Jawan Jai Kisan and he was the arcitect of the Green Revolution, followed by Mrs Gandhi who started with Garibi Hatao but then after India's first Nuculer Explosion she became a durga ma, imposed emergency to get ride of opposition . She did well before she was assinated by her own bodyguard. Was Mrs. Gandhi given a wrong advice by her core group or was she a wrong person for the right Job.

India went thru a phase of rediscovery after her and power came and power went till Rajiv Gandhi came into power. He raised some good questions like where is the AID which is given for the welfare of the people going, a question which was raised by Pandit Jawarlal Nehru in 1960's but was forgotten all these years. He learned a lesson from Gandhi and went in for communication and also for Direct Foreign Investments. After his death Atal Bihari Vajpyee become the Prime Minister who saw infrastructure as the main need of the hour. He wanted to bridge gaps between India, and started the road development projects, and dreamed of linking the water resorces which has been the main conflict between the state. He wanted to bridge gaps .... Pakistan .... China ..... America...... well he wanted to be a friend to all these nations. In his time terriorism came down too.

Atlast we have Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister who is a great man and an Economist but is hamppered by the communists as his seat depends on their support. He puts ina policy and then goes back. Atlast in these years he has settled on one policy ... Employment Gurantee to the poor people of this Nation an extension of Garibi Hatao.

History tells us that Communist have led down this Country. Though I am not against them. In Kerela they are doing fine but then in West Bengal they are unsuccessful. The Communist belt if you see has part of Orrisa, Andhra, Bihar and is the most backward belt but then this is the belt which has Coal, Iron, Jute, etc..... Once upon a time in India this region had so great industries which was shattered by Communist rule. This is the place from where the Britishers came into India and developed it.

Someone told me once, and I think I recall the same India has a set of BEMUR state which has Bihar, East Bengal, Madhya Pardesh, UP, Rajastan in it. Since then Rajasthan has come out of the list but the fate of Bihar. Bengal, UP still hangs on.

If you read the Indian Constution in the Premble itself you will find that political freedom without social justice will have no significant to the masses of the country. I am embarasssed that it took us 55 years to iniciate a job gurantee but am happy that atlast this country means business. All these years we were living in a dream world and now we are facing reality. The reality check is at last seen. Why this sudden change took place and why was the politician sleeping and putting money in the swiss bank all these years. Again its a fear of loosing power. Power makes you think.

From Nehru to Indra , 35 years . They were the architect of our very foundation. One was a beliver and the other was a doer. Nehru was adversed in turing his cabinet into a fish market where in Mrs Gandhi had a kitchen cabinet and in about 1979 there was a split in the congress party which gave rise to the slogan Indira is India.

As Ambedkar said " Constitutional morality is not a natural sendiment. It has to be cultivated". Nehru who was part of Indian Independence struggle was a democrat at heart, traditional in liberalism and carried himself with grace and ease. Mrs Gandhi was a self willed leader with exemplary courage and determination, all centered at making hereself the center of Indian politics. Rajiv Gandhi objective was to lead India into the 21st centuary. One he said " thousands wait for decades while an elaborate and archaic machinery grinds even so slowly" Mr. Vajpyee was a seasoned parlimentarian and used his parlimentarian widsom to see India on a growth track. Nehru was right when he said that Atal Bihari Vajpyee shall one day be the PM of India but then he came in too late.
